100% agreed. We’ve had our struggles, definitely but we looked more likely to do something against Slovenia imo. All these ‘smaller’ teams can afford to put 10 players behind the ball to qualify on 3 points. In the R16 they just to frustrate and hit teams on the counter as Slovakia did yesterday.

The main thing you can moan at ronaldo about is him taking every free kick no matter where it is ..

More or less what the BBC crew had to say about both games. It’s amazing what a bit of bias does. Slovenia have proven themselves to be a tough nut to crack and had the best chance of the game too. At major tournaments it really pays to be defensively minded.

Georgia didn’t do that in any of the games to their credit, it was a joy to watch compared to the utter shit that Southgate enjoys serving up with far better players at his disposal. Likewise how Spain got the job done.

They had the least defensive actions per press in the tournament so their style of play was definitely counter attacking. It is because they’re a minnow that the perception is changed to them being more positive than they were in reality.

I liked the way Georgia were quick in transitioning the ball when they won it back. Kind of how we played in 22/23 with Hamer and Vik.
