Is Murray retiring? Just put the TV on and they are going on about him like he's dead.

Yes - the Olympics I think will be his last tournament

I didn't catch the start but the way they were talking made it seem like it
I suspect there is a decent chance of him not reaching the olympics. he's had to pull out of the singles here due to injury issues

He's said he might play at the Olympics. I think he'll be lucky to be able to though.
Might sound harsh but I hope he can't.

Got a lot of respect for his career but he should have retired ages ago but is too scared of his mum to pack it in. He's won the Olympics and some other younger player could take that spot and it be the highlight of their career, or even spur them on to become a real challenger.

Raducanu pulled out of mixed singles meaning he'll never play at Wimbledon again!
"Stiff wrist" apparently.
Selfish bitch....

Pretty sure as a professional sportsman Andy Murray would appreciate focusing on the singles event, where she's not dropped a set

He is clearly injured, just look at the match the other night, and they obviously knew this was on the cards else why give him that huge send off when he had more games to play

Yes... absolutely.
Was a bit of a "reflex" reaction post!
He's still been out practicing though!

I just don't think Raducanu will ever be a top, top player. Fantastic for her to win the U.S. but I don't think she's mentally strong enough. Always injured. Far too often for a young player.
Must be quite a serious injury ( I'd hope) because otherwise she may , in time, wish she'd had the chance to partner Murray who is, let's face it, a legend on these islands.

she'll be devastated to hear that as she looks at her US open winner medal and $4m in the bank from prize money alone :ROFLMAO:

the always injured you're referencing is a recurring wrist injury, she had surgery on both wrists to resolve it a year ago and her team have been very careful with her workload since then.

wouldn't be surprised if this has always been on the cards if she got into week 2 of the singles. the way they gave Murray the big send off the other night certainly didn't seem like something you would do if you were confident he was going to be playing more matches

Oh yeah I forgot. She'll just think " fuck him I'm a millionaire and I won the U.S. "🤣

The send off Murray received is irrelevant to this. She's let him down, money or not. If she wasn't sure whether she could take part she should have said no .

She had to have surgery on both wrists last year, she missed a lot of tennis. If she has stiff wrists you can 100% understand why she would want a rest and concentrate on the singles.

The misogyny and hatred she's getting on twitter, pretty much summed up by your "selfish bitch" comment is disgraceful.

It's a shame for Murray, but he had a great send off with all his family on centre court.

Didn't she have an operation on her ankle too?

Yes the selfish bitch comment was very unwise and I hope the poster will acknowledge that.

It happens all the time in mixed doubles where if a player is still in the singles they prioritise

Graf did when McEnroe made his comeback. Murray would have done the same.

Exactly. Wonder how many of the people slamming her for this don't really follow tennis and therefore don't realise that pulling out of the doubles is a fairly routine occurrence for players still in the hunt for a singles title.

Looks like the schedulers at Wimbledon haven't exactly helped the situation leaving her zero recovery time

Can't help but admire Djokovic's consistency and determination though. Actually hope he comes back and can have a better last hurrah next season than this is looking - plenty of time for Alcaraz to win his eleventy billion titles afterwards!
