I agree, I like Eccles. But there's a reason we went after Stamenic.

However good Eccles is he isn't a progressive Hamer style player. We miss this and it's clearly a target to be rectified..

I think we will get another CM in and we will see Allen go, possibly on loan
You obviously think that we're still looking for a Hamer replacement

Ideal would be a CM and ST (assuming Dovin is done) and we could have this bench:

Collins, Lats, Dasilva, Kitching, Eccles, Torp, EMC, Rodriguez, ST

Would be the strongest City bench I can remember for a while relative to the division.

Again I think having 4 million pound bench players isnt practical

Can't see past it being
Sakamoto Rudoni Wright
Simms

To start the season.

if Simms needs a rest or is unavailable Haji goes through the middle and EMC comes in, if Haji is unavailable then EMC comes in. If we are chasing a game we go 4 2 4 with Haji and Simms middle and EMC on the left.

He will get enough minutes to make an impact and he will keep his place if he produces.

Must admit I’d have Kitching nailed on at CH with Thomas. For me it will be Wright & Simms up top and rotate EMC/Saka/Rudoni behind

I think Binks is just that little bit more composed than Kitching personally. Also, got no evidence to back this up, but I think Binks has more potential to improve and maybe have a greater sell-on value than Kitching.
I’d argue there were some games where Kitching looked the real deal but his temperament let him down. I still back him to be a key player for us. I agree Binks is more composed on the ball though

I'd be surprised if Sakamoto is ready to start games after that long out, even if he gets plenty of mins. in friendlies.
Agreed.

I think the forward line will be Wright, Simms and EMC. Rudoni or Torp behind them and Eccles and Sheaf in the centre.

Surely at £4.5 million EMC has to start.

I can see us starting with this....

I like the look of this tbf, when you look at this as a team sheet the only position that is lacking is LB. If we could just find an upgrade for Bidwell, basically like MVE but on the left, we’d be sorted.

I’d love to keep Bidwell if possible but if it came to the choice of either having MVE 2.0 + Bidwell leaving vs no MVE 2.0 + Bidwell staying then I’d choose the former rather than the latter every day of the week.

For once I agree with you. Frankly I can't understand why posters say they want a right back but are happy to stick with Bidwell.

This is the game changer for me - that transition midfielder / clearly we know we need it, get that and we are really looking good.

Wtf is going on today? First Balli agreed with me on the RB thing, then Procdoc and now you! Must be a SBT conspiracy or something 😂 For once I feel loved on here rather than abused 😂 Next song on my queue is gonna be Ice Cube’s “It Was A Good Day” 🙏🏻

If we're talking money-no-object then we probably all want another MvE for RB cover, an MvE to start LB, Sheaf mk2 in the middle and Adam Armstrong back to rotate with Simms.

But we don't have throw-around money, so the fact we have bidwell and dasilva means we realistically won't be recruiting there unless one moves on. And on his current contract i cant see that being Dasilva. With Lati an questionable exception, we don't have any RB cover at all.

With Dovin all but confirmed, I genuinely think we will only see 3 more in after him and I think we would all be fine with that

It's been well documented we are after a CB, CM and a ST to replace Godden

If we can get that in, along with sending Tavares out on loan, Wilson to whoever will have him and potentially Allen going out I feel we will be very strong

Match fitness. He'll be months behind most players.

Forgot all the other players in the squad have been playing 90 minutes of 11-a-side twice a week for the last couple of months

Imagine if we could do something, like before the actual season starts, to bring players up to match fitness. Almost like a “before-season” or something like that, where we play matches but not in a league / too competitively. That would work a treat.

EMC is going to play his way into the starting 11, he's too good for the bench.
It may not have been the initial plan, but can't see beyond him not starting, we've signed a Super 🌟.

This is really funny and insightful. Liked.

Who do you see being left out for him? I think it will be Sakamoto.

Agree, if I’m being greedy possibly rb but I quite like Eccles there. Another good centre mid would allow us to play him there every now and then.
