But Tavares, Costello, Lusala, etc were mostly rotting in the reserves of league clubs it being released by Prem teams. I think going for lads who have come through is a better bet at this age.
Totally unfair to lump Tavares in with the other two who both failed to make any impact.

Is it my imagination or do we seem to be signing 17-19 year olds who have broken through lower down? Seems like a difference in strategy for the U21s.
We’ve done it for years no?

Dexter Walters, Reise Allassani, Morgan Williams, Declan Drysdale, Joe Newton, Jay McGrath. Got to be more im forgetting.

Our only two successes from non-league recently have been Jodi Jones and McCallum.

forgive me if I'm wrong but weren't the majority of them 20+ when we signed them?

Riccardo di Trolio played a full season at National South level at 17 when we signed him.

Be interesting if he gets a loan to league 2 this season

Di Trolio had a good spell at Welling last season too.

I really am imagining some of the likes of
Howley, Di Trolio, Dausch, Obikwu to be around the squad.

I'd be surprised if Sakamoto is ready to start games after that long out, even if he gets plenty of mins. in friendlies.
He was back training with the squad in the last week of the season as the club posted pics of him back on the grass so I'd think he's fit to start from the off.

Also Kai Andrews. For no other reason than a gut feeling I think he'll break through to the first team. Also smashing all the senior players in the bleep test ain't a bad sign.
I like Andrews just because he looks like an Aldi-brand Bellingham. Never seen him play more than 5 minutes.

Excellent dropping of the word ‘gravitas’, incidentally.

I may start a rumour with gravitas, now.

Liam Walsh…at Ryton…medical tomorrow…passed already…confirmed and delivered…kiss my face.
