NB: I would personally start Bidwell (as would 99% of us) but I have a feeling Dasilva is going to be Robins main man for LB this year

Dovin
MVE Thomas Binks Bidwell
Torp Sheaf
Tatsu Rudoni Wright
Simms

Subs
Wilson/Collins
Kitching
Lati
JDS
Eccles
Palmer
EMC
Raphael
Tavares
Can't see Eccles not starting.
MR loves Eccles, and with good reason.
Torp is very good, but there's zero chance of him starting the season ahead of Eccles.

Robins prefers Eccles defensive capability over Torps.

I think Torps composure and passing range is far better but expect us to see that from the subs bench when we need more attacking threat at home or possibly starting away instead of Rudon when Robins wants more solidity in the midfield 3.

We are likely to always take time to transition to our best eleven because Robins prefers to introduce new players slowly and transition out old players slowly ….

Simms waiting half a season to get a regular run ahead of Godden being a classic example ….

I hope this season he is braver from the start given our base is much more solid.

Might be alone but really hope we start in a 4-4-2.

Dovin
MVE-Thomas-Binks-Bidwell
Tats-Rudoni-Sheaf-EMC
Simms-Wright
Not alone, would love to see us mixing the formations up this season, playing what we think causes the opposition most problems rather than playing what we’re used to. I feel we have the quality to be able to do that now.

With the squad as it is at present I cannot see Eccles not being in the starting XI. Not so sure Sakamoto is a nailed on starter either as much will depend how he looks in pre-season, and it might be that MR looks to ease him back slowly.

Still think it's too early

By the Bremen friendly we will have in who we want I would feel. Bar 1 or 2 that may become available on loan

He will start Eccles over torp. Although I personally would play torp. He is some player I think.
I can see Torp being cover for Sheaf rather than Eccles.
No one can cover what Eccles does, the closest is Lats, but he's not as good as Eccles at being Eccles 😂

I’d be shocked if it’s not

New Keeper (Dovin)
MVE Thomas Binks Bidwell
Eccles Rudoni Sheaf
Tatsu Simms Wright

Written as a 433 because our midfield will play flatter this year imo.

And barring injury or signing a worldie.
No EMC starting? In my view, he’s getting the nod ahead of Sakamoto. Otherwise, with the players we’ve got, that line up is bang on.

If EMC starts then Wright has to play off the right side. Robins has always been slow to introduce new signings. I think the question is an interesting one.

Going from the Port Vale teams it seemed to be Rodrigues and Saka on the right.

Be interesting to see what develops in preseason games.

It's great to see competition, for me there are 3 positions not fully tied down. LB Bidwell or Dasilva. RW and LW 2 from Wright, EMC and Saka..Mid 3 from Sheaf, Eccles, Rudoni and Torp.

Of course we are all expecting another midfielder, forward and CB so adds even more competition for those places

Torp isn’t a a CDM.

I think Torp could be a big player for us this season but if he is it will be as an 8. I’m still not convinced we will play with a 10 this season, it could well be 2 8’s.

It will be
Hopefully that gives us more defensive strength and with the right 8’s a great attacking base …

Home
Sheaf ( cdm )
Torp ( passing )
Rudoni ( driving forward with the ball )

Away ( swap in Eccles for Torp to add greater defensive qualities )

Why? Sakamoto was arguably our best player in the period before his injury, and EMC usually plays on the left doesn't he? I don't see why he'd drop Sakamoto.
