Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already (10 Viewers)

It seems at least one person was killed and others injured.

Also seems Trump turned his head and that was why he was winged.

They also interviewed at least one person who saw the shooter, drew the security forces attention but seemingly nothing happened.

My first reaction was surprise.

But on further recollection it seemed inevitable.

The people who have spent the last 8 years calling Trump worse than Hitler have some reflection to do.
I wonder if he’s done any himself since the attack on the Capitol?

I can't see anything in the theory of it being staged, the news is largely about how senile Biden is and how more people are calling for him to stand down it's already working in Trump's favour and there's really no big need to pull a stunt. That photo that has come out of it is an all-timer
Yeah it doesn't surprise me that a nutter wants to kill the nutter. It also doesn't surprise me that the police were incompetent enough to let this happen!

Election over then. Only one winner now.

Such a sad state of affairs all round especially for the families of the dead/injured. The reaction of some of the livid red necks in the crowd giving the finger to cameras and screaming U-S-A, U-S-A indicates the violence, hatred and division will just sadly escalate. The right of politics across the world inc. Farage/Reform supporters, will gain extra motivation from this too and just poir fuel on the Culture War. Would be nice if we agree a new calmer style of political debate.... ain't going to happen though.

This assassination attempt is hardly a surprise and has been widely forecast given the political discourse of recent months.

Thankfully he's safe but it's tragic that some have died and suffered serious injury.
Yeah if you’re going to say you’re going to become a dictator and publish your plans to turn America into a Christian theocracy online it’s going to happen.

Most of it brought on by himself.

Thankfully it wasn't any worse, the reaction by his loyal mob doesn't bear thinking about.

Seems a bit odd given the amount of security he has around him. They can't have been doing their job very well and Trump has been lucky again. I don't like the guy in the slightest but don't wish him assassinated.

Very sad for those that have died as part of the incident and their families.

I can only imagine that this is someone seeing that Biden is doing really badly, is going to lose and thought it can't be Trump instead and they had to take him out so at least someone else would become President, though there will undoubtedly be rumours of it being staged, especially given Trump's behaviour in the past

Result is pretty much a foregone conclusion and that is supremely dangerous for America. He will try and give himself more powers and reduce the checks and balances against him as well as crack down on those who oppose him. And given how rabid his fanbase is I can see them allowing him to do so with glee. They won't realise the gravity of that until it's far too late - at it's worst it could endanger the democractic foundations of the US

Inevitable that with rhetoric on this level that this would happen.

How on earth was a shooter able to take up position on the nearest rooftop unopposed, so close to trump? At the very least it's poor security but this will certainly fan the flames of conspiracy.

Given that the security forces were told by the crowd that someone was in the roof with a gun it does seem a bit strange.

Wouldn't surprise me if it was someone from this thread that shot him, with how riled up some get.

Biden: “But the idea, the idea that there’s political violence or violence in America like this is just unheard of"

Another classic blunder

Nothing justifies violence, but the hypocrisy by Trump supporters here and elsewhere is breathtaking.

Here's Trump mocking the victim of a hammer attack (on the family of a political rival).

Trump claims that a kidnap plot (against a political rival) is fake.

Trump promises to pardon January 6th rioters. You know his supporters who tried to violently overthrow a democratic election result, which he continues to falsely claim was 'stolen'.

And let's not even start on the utter bollocks of calling the draft dodging, veteran insulting, Putin enabling, pussy grabbing, fat orange twat, a "warrior".

Man who advocates violence nearly becomes the victim of it, is the true story here.

All of the other stuff is the usual bluster and bullshit that he and his supporters make up.

Is that the same attempted overthrow where the police opened the door for a bunch of grannies and weirdos to walk around the Capitol and Trump told to "go home"?

The same one where hundreds of "MAGA terrorists" are likely to be released due to prosecutorial overreach?

Agree that trump says a lot of absolute drivel, including a lot of incendiary rhetoric but think you need to relax a bit. I know you are upset that the attempt failed but it's not your fault. Go put the kettle on and have a bit of jam on toast.

and no, I'm.not a Trump supporter.

Prosecutorial overreach? Did you see the pictures. Did you think you they were there for a nice day out?

Don't know about me having a cup of tea mate, I think you need to get back on the meds - you're delusional.

America is so fucked
330 million people and Trump and Biden are supposedly the best 2 candidates they can find.
The extremes of both parties set the narrative. Where's the voice of the midstream majorities? No politician seems brave enough to speak for them through fear of the party "extremists".

Pop yourself into the "ukraine is winning" simulator for a few hours - that should help.
