Other than us, look at some who have splashed the cash - Leeds, Sheff Utd, Luton, Burnley, Stoke, Norwich, Bristol City, West Brom - I could add more to the list, but they can't all get there.Or....they'll all be financially knackered, and if we don't manage it this season, maybe it will be the following. They can't all succeed.
A lot of stupid money being thrown around the championship, makes me worry that we have missed our chance as teams will have quite big war chests now

The Cartel is in overdrive! It's mad
If you read recent comments/speculation re: Sunderland players....
Lens interested in Dan Ballard (Sunderland value him at least £20m
Jobe Bellingham - rated £20m ....wanted? by Palace, Lazio interested?!
Jack Clarke - on their forum, they value him north of £25m
All played regularly last season for Sunderland, who finished.... 16th
Not that we've missed out on any particular players, I meant worried we've missed our chance to get promoted with losing to Luton and not getting promoted last season.Who are you worried we're missing out on? If it's forwards, we've got seven already incl. Tavares and Obikwu. If we start the season with who we've got we're in a good spot.
Philogene isn’t a slightly above average champNot that we've missed out on any particular players, I meant worried we've missed our chance to get promoted with losing to Luton and not getting promoted last season.
Predicting a lot more competitive league as many more teams will have money to strengthen. It's a bit disappointing looking back now that we got £35 million for the leagues two best players and Hull are getting that now for slightly above average championship players.
Overspend imo. Very Stoke.Bristol City and Stoke have now apparently agreed £2.5m fees for Sinclair Armstrong of QPR.

Villa had a 30% sell on clause so effectively got him cheaper than any of the other bidsSeems to have passed everyone by, but Philogene’s gone back to Villa.
Pretty sure FFP will want a word if they don't start selling. Not championship related but blues are really going for it this year.
spent nearly 10mil already
They seem to be taking a common approach of just ignoring those rules and hoping they get promoted or whatever they want before the sanction hits, by which point it's meaningless.Pretty sure FFP will want a word if they don't start selling.

Maybe worth a go if you're one promotion away from the Prem. In league 1 however...They seem to be taking a common approach of just ignoring those rules and hoping they get promoted or whatever they want before the sanction hits, by which point it's meaningless.
Didn't think FFP applied in League 1 ?Pretty sure FFP will want a word if they don't start selling.

Applies in all 4 divisions I'm pretty sure. Can't see why it wouldn't.Didn't think FFP applied in League 1 ?
Fair enough - thought I'd seen/read it somewhere. Must have been one of my weird dreams (I have many!)Applies in all 4 divisions I'm pretty sure. Can't see why it wouldn't.

It’s different in league 1 and league 2 they can spend a percentage of their turnover on wages think it’s around 60%. So they aren’t looking at transfer fees when it comes to ffp in those leagues. Plus relegated clubs from the champ can exclude players from that calculation they signed before the relegation season.Applies in all 4 divisions I'm pretty sure. Can't see why it wouldn't.

So they are in a strong position.
Are transfer fees not player related expenditure?
It means player salaries not admin staff salaries. Nothing to do with feesAre transfer fees not player related expenditure?

OK fair enough I wasn't aware of this. So in theory if you can convince players to come you could build a better team in league 1 than in the Championship if you have someone funding it?It means player salaries not admin staff salaries. Nothing to do with fees
You've still got to manage to keep wages to 60% of turnover so you'd need to be generating a lot of income.OK fair enough I wasn't aware of this. So in theory if you can convince players to come you could build a better team in league 1 than in the Championship if you have someone funding it?
Very strange.

Yeh I get that too and I'd imagine their wage bill is pretty high so probably still need to watch out. They could probably sell Jordan James and cover all their spending tbf. You've still got to manage to keep wages to 60% of turnover so you'd need to be generating a lot of income.
