FORMER Coventry City vice-chairman Gary Hoffman insists major new investment and taking ownership of the Ricoh Arena are essential to safeguard the future of the club * and he's busy working on it! The life-long Sky Blues fan and high-flying banker has revealed that he is doing everything he can to attract potential multi-million pound buyers to breathe new life into a club in financial meltdown.
Speaking exclusively to the Coventry Telegraph for the first time since he quit as vice-chairman last month, the determined 50-year-old said: "We have got to move forward and we must all now work to bring in investors that are capable of moving the club forward and capable of buying the stadium.

"And yes, I am already talking to investors and got some irons in the fire on that. I had one conversation with investors yesterday and I am seeing more today so I have got some good momentum."

We're saved!!!!!!!!!! I think within a year we could be looking at promotion, not much after that we could be looking at a Champions League place, and could be looking at the treble. Well I'll be looking to have a really good day today thats for sure.

What a story

I thought someone else was feeling positive but then I may have detected a hint of sarcasm.

Well that was a whole load of not much wasn't it?!

Biggest story since we moved to the Ricoh? Now let me see, Two relegation battles, one potential takeover by Manhattan, a real takeover, 4 managers, a chairman quitting, the signing of a sex offender. None of these bigger than "I'm gonna try and get some cash to buy the club"?
Don't get me wrong, I'm excited at the prospect and wish him all the very best...

But that is a massive FAIL by the Belelaugh!

Sorry Belelaugh, buts that's a massive Fail!

Agreed! It would be massive news if he had bought us!

I might say I am going to try and take over!

I think this has to be possibly good news - at the very least hopeful news.

The reason for the disappointment on the forum seems to be the rather large oversell by the CT.

If they'd just done an article confirming that GH was looking for investment, most of us would have been pretty happy about it - after all, how many times have people asked, what is the alternative to SISU?

I appreciate that it's only negotiations and that it may well come to nothing but we also have to accept that GH has a serious track record in financial circles and that gives him a better chance than most.

I would like to see a takeover sooner rather than later, and I would also like to see a takeover before a new manager is hired

Agreed, Hopefully if Hoff gets the invesment and puchases CCFC & the Ricoh and tells potential managers that funds will be available maybe we might get a Sven type character who can attract some top players. But knowing Coventry nothing will happen and we will eventually spiral into admin. :(
