Do you know much about this player? What makes you think he won't be a success as the 3rd striker/Godden replacement? What level of player do you think we can recruitment for that role?

Stats are a bit merhh. Watched the YouTube compilation on him and wasn’t overly impressed if that was his major highlights, was quite underwhelming like other posters have said.

As mentioned, I’d rather see us go after Sydney van Hoojidonk personally as our rotation striker. Assuming it wouldn’t be a 3rd striker and that Wright would continue to be playing where he has been doing for us on LW and EMC will rotate with Wright.
Really depends how we line up but at the moment it looks like it could be 433 so there would be plenty of opportunity for that striker to play anywhere across the front three if that is the lineup which we appear to be trialing.

We'd probably all rather a £5m striker over a £1m striker as backup.

I have read that Besiktas would possibly be willing to let Alex Oxlade-Chamberlian go on a free. Any feelings on him as a possibility in coming to us?

Classic CET. Article called “Mark Robins stance on transfers’ which ends up being a recap of what we already know and one comment from MR at the end “I don’t talk about transfers”

Utter shite that paper/platform 😂
Mark’s being a bit of a liar there, I still remember ‘we want 10 more signings’ this time last year!

He will not talk about individual targets we are after, he will talk in general terms of positions or our own players potentially leaving. But i cant remember him talking of names until they have signed and even then he is reserved in his response.

This time he appears to have not talked about transfers full stop

It is the same with injuries. He tightly goes down the line of they will be ready when they are ready.

He is experienced enough to know not to set yourself up to fail. He may have four targets, he may get one he may get all four? He may have to wait until January or even next summer to get a target across the line.

The important thing is sign the right people. Not just sign someone because you can bring them in straight away.

Also if Gyokeres goes later in the window that might open up our options?

On my reckoning we have three squad slots left, unless a couple go out on loan or permanently. Squad of 25 and although our squad is on the young side, not many are under 21 (even Dovin is 22).

Just read on twitter if they sell Nketiah to Marseille then they would add that to the Vik bid, looking around £60-65 million to get him I think it said, all over Arsenal fan pages aswell.

I think he'll definitely move on this summer which means more money for us! They've pretty much wrapped up Calafiori so it looks like Vik is next.

But it creates a dilemma. Do we buy someone now or wait for a better and more expensive option?

He may go late on in the window, especially if a bidding war starts?

One thing is certain we wont spend money until we know we have got it.

Equally, though, we need to agree ‘in principle’ fees / deals before other clubs know we’ve got it…it’s a little bit of a chicken/egg situation. Not easy.

We needed another CM anyway and now might need another with Sheaf injured (depending on how bad it is) we need a striker and an experienced CB in the Fadz mould so either way we still need bodies in, I've said it before but I'd really like us to buy Bernede for that CM and maybe get a loan in to cover Sheaf.

We are still short in numbers for a sustained go at promotion, so we need to use that money (if Vik finally goes) to the existing budget we have.

I know that sounds obvious but the sooner we get more in the better as we don't want a slow start like the past couple years.

I agree on a Centre midfielder like Bernede but a loan for sheaf? He’s turned his ankle, hopefully be back at an absolute worst case after the September international break

I'm just thinking spending money on 2 permanent CM would take away money on the other areas that need strengthening, we don't know how long Sheafs out could be a couple weeks or few months, we are short at it is before he got injured, squad depth cost us last year.

Anyway the loan was a maybe, Sheaf might be back before the season starts and all is good and then partner Bernede against Stoke 😂

Hopefully we will see a Centre midfielder and a striker in the next week or two

I think it just shows how important it is to get a CM in, whether it’s a loan, free agent or purchase. I’d opt for quality every time but of course there’s an issue of cost.

Either way we can’t have this ongoing issue where if Sheaf’s injured or tired then we’re stuck with playing Lati or Eccles there, neither of them are as good as Sheaf at that role, and as everyone really rates Eccles if he’s not playing in his usual position we’re weaker as a team.

CM or ST? Take your pick, both are now vital positions after the GK, personally I'd like a CM to be next one in, we are a 3 positions filled from having a team capable to break top 2, people might call me mad for saying that but I really think it's achievable.

We have three places left in the squad of 25 under the EFL rules, unless people either move on or get loaned. Very few of the players being used pre season are under 21 and therefore don't count as part of the 25.

SVH isn't going to come to us while we can't make him first choice, he was awful at Norwich and his attitude stinks

He looks good in 1 youtube video and Vik had a mehh record before he joined us

Be realistic

What about Torp, Rudoni, Andrews, Allen. We’ve plenty of cover there. No need to rush anything

SvH was never going to be a first choice at Norwich and he went there. He didn’t really get much look in at Norwich as he was behind Sargent etc so it is quite a realistic transfer, especially with our experience of dealing with Bologna for Binks.
Another one could be Tom Cannon at Leicester who was injured most of last season. With Leicester giving Vardy a new contract they might feel a loan this season or at least till Jan might be better for him to get minutes.
Whoever comes in as second choice here will get plenty of minutes.

If he could get back to his Norwich days form, definitely. When he played against us he was at another level. Robins was also singing his praises.

Always thought he'd be a top prem player in his earlier days, just didn't seem to improve further and if anything regressed. I wonder what happened? Attitude maybe?

He must have something lined up as its sounds like he had a conversation few weeks back and was asked to go away to think about it. He came back with he wants out, championship clubs will be in for him and if we are one of them id be over the moon.

Lost gem that would bring quality to our squad but would also being energy and experience. If we want to replace COH stats, Cantwell and Rudoni would do very nicely and would add quality depth. I also think he has spoke well about the club and the fans before. Id take him all day long, could be the right price, age and experience in a position of need. No brainer for me and hope Robins and Doug are all over it

Cantwell is another example of a player who was incredible at Championship level when we first got promoted. Played as well as anyone I can remember against us. After Grealish left Villa there was talk of him going to Villa for about £40m. His form and general career has fallen off a cliff since.
