It’s such a shame that you clearly can’t see that I made a different choice as a supporter of our team.

But as I said it’s ancient history now and hopefully City fans don’t have to have the same awful choice like we did back then.

Ironically his career didn’t really go past the 4th tier. I’m sure he’s been promoted from there and released straight after with Northampton

Some pretty grim memories. However reading back helps provide perspective and an appreciation for just how far we’ve come.

Sitting in a near empty stadium, watching horrendous football with a terrible atmosphere to the feeling around the club now, the connection between players/fans/club and the constant feeling of optimism.

On a personal level, sitting through some of the memories described on here and remembering how bleak those seasons were, makes the times we’re experiencing now even more special.

Losing every game we played against Forest Green Rovers (they were so shit when I was growing up in the west country)

Never being able to hold on to any half decent players. Basically full squad rebuilds made up from castoffs and misfits for a decade.

I stood on the hill , broke a little bit with every SISU input into my club and honestly thought we were finished as a club
Now we have a fan base who are pragmatic enough to accept a lot of transfers and other recruitment, albeit we have the diehard sceptics who rightly question certain decisions. Tempered against the modern fan base who have only known success and an upward trajectory and who have a totally unrealistic expectation of where we are and how soon we will get there

Stood on the hill 22 times. There’s always been this idea that the people going in always got the abuse and that it wasn’t reciprocated - it was, most of the time, initiated by those going in. People just couldn’t keep their gobs shut and let people get on with things.

How many games do you think the tramp hatters turned up on the hill? Once. Against Bradford when the Sky cameras were up there…

That's up there but the lowest point in the clubs history for me was being 2-0 down away at Morecambe.

It was mid December. Snowing all day. Couldn't even find a supermarket open in the town. The whole place was abandoned.

There was only around 300 Coventry fans for a Saturday game and the overall attendance was 1700. We got played off the pitch.

I have nightmares about Robins bringing on Vincenti and persisting on him being a winger.

People look back on that season fondly, but any of the few hundred that went to every away game know just how bad it was.

I was there and it wasn't that bad really, because it was in the context of a season where we were looking likely all season to make the play offs. The games the season before were literally without hope.

This - most people are blinkered due to true play offs - that season was dogshite, every team was awful, refs were seriously shite and the Ricoh was empty.

The away games were a lot of fun though, especially enjoyed the flares and mini pitch invasions each time we scored.

I Went into that game with so much optimism with Slade taking charge, and for the first 10 minutes we pumped long balls into the corners which at least looked like we had some sort of game plan at last. My optimism had evaporated by half time .

In fact, i was the guy who charged up the hill after the Brentford game to confront those on the hill dishing out abuse, which led to the police getting involved, and i think it was reported on CWR at the time. (i also recall certain "fans" on here saying that i got what i deserved )

Obviously i didn't see everyone who went in..... but i never once noticed those going in the ground dishing out abuse to those on the hill. I'm sure it happened on occasion..... it was an entirely sorry period for the club.... everyone against each other.... fans outside trying to disrupt the game.... shit atmosphere inside the ground......

A real shame as for the first part of the season there was some really good football played.... Wilson and the other chap up front, Cyrus Christie as well.... some really good high-scoring games...... unfortunately by the end of the period at Northampton we had the likes of Akpom and Delfonso playing and it was considerably worse ..... i'm sure we only won one game at "home" after xmas that season.

Ok people could say he was unwise to be in there, but it was pure bullying of a guy on his own. Really was shameful.

There were so many woeful performances though. Easy to look back on it with the fun at the end of the season but there were so many depressing periods in that season.

The best thing about that season personally was the cup run. The MK Dons away gameswas/is one of my favourite every away games.

I probably stood fairly close to you then as we were in there too. Thankfully, I used to park in the car park at the opposite end but I never saw anyone going in dishing out the abuse. I stood a couple of rows behind the guys from GMK..... Texas Holdem, Knowl, etc.

Used to get the train down.... then stop in that pub (Thomas Beckett?) which was between the station and the rugby ground. Tried to make the best of it but it wasn't particularly fun (particularly when the train was cancelled for a rail replacement bus service!)

I left as soon as the third went in, then heard a cheer again on the way back to the car!! How things have changed!!
