If the calibre of player/right players are only available once/if that happens then it's the right thing to wait. You can't force the transfer market without being top of the tree in terms of transfers and we certainly aren't.
Whilst I get your point and do agree that if the right player isn’t available we shouldn’t buy them, but I do also think that there surely must be a player out there that is the right player, even at all budgets? What exactly is the perfect player anyway?
Even for a professional scout it’s hard to know what a player will turn into before you suggest them to the management. It’s not like there’s only 50 midfielders to choose from, there’s literally hundreds and hundreds of potential targets, either at say £5-7 mil (if we get the Vik money) or at say £1-2 mil (if we don’t get the Vik money). I’m always happy to be wrong but I do find it odd that there simply is no midfielder in the whole world that doesn’t fit the bill
