Great team performance. My first look at the two new lads….
Rudoni made some lovely offers off the ball, albeit not taken up on many of them. Think he’ll be decent.

EMC looked very good too. Few showings of quick feet and I think he’ll stretch teams - we’ve got some great competition for that LF spot between him, Wright and Palmer.

Special mention to Sakamoto who went in bravely to a few arial 50/50’s after what happened to him.

Tempered with the possibility that Everton were working to some sort of tactic (they can’t be THAT bad, surely?) I thought we were excellent to a man. Incredible depth save for a striker given Sheaf and Wright were unavailable. Gutted I’m going on holiday and will miss the first two home games in the league now.

Pretty Robins gave him a telling off for going up for the headers. Loved it.

Of those starting no one less than an 8, Allen and Rudoni a 9.

From the subs Torp, Palmer and Kitching the pick of the bunch. Obikwu looks like he could really develop into a good player.

We were fantastic, but Everton looked miles off the pace, they are a week behind in terms of pre season. Real positive signs though

Binks and Thomas look a pair. Been waiting for that for ages, really impressive. Lots of solid performances, Allen & Rudy decent, but loved EMC. Tricks, skill, put a shift in and even a brave header an added bonus. Got a feeling big things to come from him.

Not kneejerk at all honest 😉 but I'm gonna put a chunky bet on us to win the league after that. Couldn't have gone much better and still Wright, Sheaf, Raphael to add in and I'd bet at least one more. Really, really promising.

You could tell we were further along our pre season than Everton, but those guys are PL so should be able to cope with a championship team. Either we will be getting the bus out of the transport museum, or they will be coming down with Leicester.
Thought all the players had a good game, great to see tats back,EMC and Rudi look great signings, keeper didn’t have a lot to do but what he did he did well. All the subs seemed to just slip into the flow of the game effortlessly.
keeping the first choices fit will be the key for how well we do this season.

Both would be nice

What - a tactic to lose without really showing much ability at all?

We were excellent through the whole team, couldn't see any obvious weaknesses, Binks and Thomas are the pairing at the back by the looks, great to see Milan and Saka linking up again. EMC looked to be dangerous , great competition for Wright. Rudi looks one serious player, great signing. One negative, queues were horrific for some, luckily we got in 5mins before KO.

Lose to German Div 2 team and the world is gunna end, win against a premier league team and we are going to win the league. Fuck I love how much this forum yo-yos week to week

If they were working to a tactic, they better hope they don't use it in the league because it was fucking wank.

I know it's preseason and you can't read much into it, but they were extremely poor. I think Stevenage actually caused our defence more problems than Everton did this evening.

Saying that, we also looked very good. Some really good passages of play and looked organised, structured and even when the subs came on it still looked like we knew exactly what to do and what the game plan was, even the youngsters. When you're bringing on youngsters who are used to playing at a youth level, that isn't always the case, but I think it goes to show that with the change of coaching staff and the overall more professional approach to everything we're slowly becoming a genuinely good team that'll cause opposition some problems.

Allen was superb. And Torp again reminded us of all what he can do. Really need him to stay fit.
I think he will and don't understand the questioning of him TBF

Me too £100 I reckon, would be a decent return!!

Everton looked well off it and we looked very good, plenty of positives to take from that game all over the pitch. Even with ours subs made we were still on top and looking likely to score again. If players can keep the performance levels up we will have a few selection dilemmas in attack and midfield, great position to be in.

What about those two lateral passes into the box from the left, one from Bidwell and one from EMC, sublime, unfortunately led to nothing but none the less, well see that a few times this season and somebody will get on the end of it!

It's only pre-season but it was a good performance all round. Like the look of EMC, Rudoni was always showing for the ball and trying to pick passes, even if a few didn't come off. Binks read danger at the back really well and looked good next to Thomas and Allen did an exceptional job intercepting in the midfield.

Lots to look forward to if we can keep that up.

Really impressed with the new signings so far, and most of the team already look pretty much match fit.
Just need 2-3 more over the line before the window shuts I think

Thought they all looked good. Some sloppy passes from Thomas and Eccles, but what's new there? The new fellas looked great. EMC is going to be immense and despite not being a sudden O'Hare hater, I genuinely believe that Rudoni can be just as good, if not better.

Ellis looks a beast and a totally different player to a year ago, where he almost seemed embarrased or too self conscious in his belief that he is a good player.

I think a special mention is in order for Justin too. I love the way he puts himself about, drawing fouls and putting pressure on defenders. A really powerful forward, who will give us different options if he doesn't get loaned out.

I think with a few additions we can really have a genuine go this year.

This is what he does, he gives you hope because he's obviously talented. Clean slate for Palmer, i assume he's staying now so here's hoping for a good season from him.

It was a perfect pass into penalty area For Torp and a deliberate nutmeg on the Everton defender. For me his fault is he sometimes tries too hard to be creative. He is quite a passionate player but sometimes that is when his game deteriorates.
