People are allowed to be concerned with the state of the country but my word some of the things I'm seeing tonight are embarrassing, pathetic, heartbreaking and dangerous.

We are days away from major race riots in this country.
It won't happen . There will be trouble but it won't go down in history.

It won't happen .

Are you sure? There's hundreds of rampant blokes in Sunderland.

Do you really think other communities aren't going to retaliate?

I pray to God we don't see this in Coventry. We are better than this. Those idiots throwing bricks in Sunderland are genuinely embarrassing their city.

Here we have a stop the boats rally taking place about half a mile from a Palestinian solidarity march, recipe for trouble.

Along with that Bristol Rovers have thought it's a good idea to host Cardiff on the same day Bristol City play some Dutch team.

Hotbed of chaos.

It was always coming. You could see it weeks ago. Echos of 2011 but this time with multiple triggers from both sides.

There isn't enough police to contain it.

Nothing we haven't seen before. Unless someone's put a picture of Jimmy Hill in their window.

Like I said, Starmer has fired the cunts up as well. He for some reason has also tried to divide with how he's reacted differently with different protests.

I'm not saying it's all his fault, of course not. He's done the opposite of calming things down.

It's all lies apparently.

Totally agree. I've not read back through the thread but his statement yesterday was pathetic and will be looked back upon as a major trigger. He picked a side and wound the other up.

There are always hundreds of rampant blokes in Sunderland on a Friday night.

The racial element exists because being able to identify "the other" is a key part of being able to protect your own "tribe" and there is a innate desire amongst most humans to want to cohabit with and defend "their tribe". This is the view across most of Planet earth and for 99.9999999999% of human history. You can dress it up and create as many social constructs as you want to define "what is British, what is English" etc but deep down everyone knows the difference between the "in group" and "out group". Not a moral judgement - it just is.

If I were to live in Nigeria and have children, they may have Nigerian passports and have Nigerian nationality, but they are not Nigerian and never will be.

Nigerians would never consider them as Nigerian and if anyone can rock up and receive a document that turns them into a Nigerian, and is considered as Nigerian as anyone whose ancestors inhabited the region for thousands of years, does that not deny or nullify the existence of the Nigerian ethnicity if anyone can have it at the stroke of a pen? Would that actually, not be quite racist?

Many people don't have any issues identifying who the English/British are when it comes to assigning them guilt for things like slavery or colonialism yet I never see them asking David Lammy (who identifies as a proud Englishman) to apologise for the slave trade.

If you disagree and believe that David Lammy shouldnt apologise for the slave trade on account of his heritage, as his ancestors come from a region where they were victims of it, then by diferentiating him from other English on the basis of his skin colour you are actually in line with those who you deem to be racist.
OK. Been trying to decipher this. Just for clarity who are 'our tribe' and who are 'the other'?

I've just watched back the Sky News live stream of Starmer's speech yesterday. I'm not exactly his number one fan but what in that do you think he shouldn't have said.

He pretty much just said we won't tolerate disorder no matter who is behind it and it's not helping the grieving families.

Just looking for someone to blame. Funny how they never pin any blame on Farage, Robinson, Tice, Oakeshott, Fox etc al.

From the perspective of the 'protesters', they clearly want to know why there's a press conference about them and not other protests or recent bouts of violence/knife crime.

Police station is now on fire in Sunderland. Idiotic.

The video shows bellends in Sunderland shirts. No matter how angry you are, how can you smash up your own city?
Where I used to live in Cardiff, I had to walk 50 minutes to the nearest bus stop that would let me on because the locals thought throwing rocks at the bus drivers was a cunning plan...

There's idiocy everywhere!

He gave a speech about the Leeds riots outside Downing Street and went to Southport and spoke about the horrific murders there. He's questioned on a daily basis, it's not like he's only answering questions about the Southport riot and never speaks about anything else.

Did he? Don't think he held an emergency press conference after the Leeds riots.

He's got a lot of work to do because the scenes tonight are dreadful. We've had riots and violence for weeks now from different groups and gangs.

At least he'll not be on holiday like Cameron and Boris in 2011...

There are 8000 nerve endings in the clitoris, but still nowhere as sensitive as a right wing man.
