The backlog is the worst issue. I mentioned before (and got sneered at) about an asylum seeker who'd been stuck in one room for 18 months with their family waiting to hear. That does nobody anywhere any good.But aren't Labour trying to do something about this?
They're reemploying border control staff and trying to clear the asylum back log and sending the tax man after the barbers, nail salons etc.
Will their plan work? Who knows?
I'm not someone with a lot of faith in them
but they are trying something. I don't think it's realistic to expect them to sort it after a month.
Also denies us, if their claim is accepted, an economic contributor to the country as they can't work for the first 12 months at least while they wait on a decision! Surely no claim needs to take that long, even taking into account appeals?
