27 points - shitty 1-0 loss to Preston - miss 3 pens, simms not hitting a barn door and Matt Smith questioning whether the run is over and that he’d settle for 4 mid table at this point,

not forgetting the taxi for robins thread being fired up where we begin to question whether he’s taken us as far as he can as we just can’t beat Preston

You are both right here. We were terrible right up to early/mid November and blew any chance of challenging at the very top long before xmas.

We then matched the top 2s form through until April and should have snuck 6th but threw away a 1-0 lead against Cardiff, losing 2-1 without them having a meaningful shot (2 o.g). Took 4 points from the last 8 (beating Leeds??) when 3 wins and a draw should have seen us over the line.
The point is to look at points in August and April as equally valuable. Lesta’s excellent form up to January is what got them over the line when they started wobbling.

Memory isn't quite as sharp as it was - others may recall differently but definitely some comedy defending, some keeper errors (Wilson at that point) but also a LOT of missed chances. Team effort for me.

Your memory is probably better than mine!

Leicester away in the first game I think the defence was ok? I seem to remember Godden & Wright missing some sitters

Squad depth cost us ultimately. We were running on empty before the semi-final and they put everything into that. Tats was a big loss, but even Allen etc were missing long periods and needed his energy.

Yeah I think it all looked pretty good bar two moments of class from Dewsbury Hall. Godden missed a few really good chances. Wright only came on late and nearly scored a worldy. Can't remember him missing any in that game (doesn't mean it didn't happen) but the three of them fluffed some absolute sitters in that first part of the season.

Didn’t Wright hit the post just before they scored their 2nd?

Think he was on a run and had a great shot but the keeper just managed to palm it over
You are both close, he raced through the defence and smashed it goalwards. Keeper pushed it onto the underside of the bar. So unlucky it didn't bounce in. Would have been a great debut you goal and could have set the season off on a whole different note.

I think 19 points with wins against Oxford, Norwich, Watford, Blackburn, and Preston (yes, away), and draws against Stoke, Bristol C, Swansea, and Sheff Wed.
Just 1 defeat away to Leeds.

It's pointless predicting points over a 10 game period at any stage in the season as form can change.

At the start of the season it takes about the first 6 games for the League to settle down.

In that case, any prediction is pointless, whether it's a "supercomputer" sports pundits, or betting company odds. It's just opinions but it still happens all the time.

It makes more sense to take one game at a time or games of 2 or 3. Because over a 10 game spread the form book will be totally different by the time you reach games 8, 9 and 10.

For instance when you make predictions at the start of a 10 game sequence; the team you play in week 8 might have lost their last 3 games. By the time you play them they might have won 4 and drawn 2 in their last six games.

Was very unlucky but it did bounce down to Godden who really should've done better

Don’t think we’ll be at our absolutely best first 10. We typically never are under Robins.

Think we’ll get off to a good start but nothing special (will be a miles better base than the last two seasons) and we’ll push on to 2ppg from there.
