So, how does this work then? Those on the Sky platform with get a dedicated channel, I presume. I'm with Virgin and I think we have to have a software update on our V6 boxes to enable us to watch it properly. My boxes are being updated on 16th August. Until then I have to go through the red button, I think.

Does anyone know what is happening with either Sky or Virgin?

I read that the Arena channel is replaced by Sports+ and that the red button function should direct to the additional streams.

I hope they are going to make the red button commentaries and games a hell of a lot better. Poor, fuzzy video, no replays. It's pretty unwatchable.

Not great communication around this seeing as we're only a few days off the season starting.
I only read on a forum or whatever that those Virgin customers like myself who have the older V6 boxes need a software update. I rang them up, had a moan and they are coming out to sort that. When they said the 16th, I moaned again and so they have up my broadband from 500MB to a gigabit connection due to the inconvenience. Result.

Virgin apparently you need a new box to be able to fully access
It will be free, but at this stage they have not told you how to even get one - so will take a few weeks - Still need the firesticks for a little while yet i suspect

At launch, the streaming aspect will only be accessible on Virgin Media's TV 360 and Virgin Media Stream boxes. Unfortunately, older boxes such as the V6 will not support the streaming features of Sky Sports+

so you will get the core sports channels but not the many games shown live at the same time

I work at Sky. Just launched a new viewing experience on NOW, 4k, better audio etc, anyone on the existing experience got a free upgrade and as long as they don't cancel, they pay the same amount as they did before infinitely. Not a peep about it though, no emails to existing customers to say we've given you this sweet deal, no advertising it for new customers. It's just there if you log in. It's bizarre

I got bumped to a gig, worth noting it comes with free WiFi extenders for any room or area in your house with less than 30mbps WiFi speeds.

I have Now TV, needs updating on 14th August so sounds like great news.

Where did you read that? I read that v6 will stream but could buffer

I’ve paid zero attention to the broadcasting changes this year, so maybe somebody can explain how to navigate the labyrinth of providers.

Is iFollow even relevant for the coming season?

Are ALL games going to be covered live (one way or another)?

I believe there are 12 Sky Sports channels. Is Sky Sports+ one of those, is it some sort of add-on for Sky Sports, or is it a completely separate service? And how does NOW Sports differ from Sky Sports?!

My understanding, which may or may not be right, is as follows:

Ifollow

No live games in UK.
Not sure if match replays will still be made available.
Overseas the same as before?

Sky

Show a half of all games for every Championship team live.
Not sure if match replays available

Now tv is a platform for getting access to Sky Sports.

I have eero mesh wifi. It's brilliant as we live in an Edwardian terrace with thick walls, so this gives us 100MB even in the farthest corners of the house.

No, I rang up customer service. They said you just need a software upgrade on the V6 box to make it a 360 box. Our three boxes will be upgraded but not until 16th August.

i did the same - but they told me i also need a new remote control (had v6 remotes which told me would not work), which are coming on Wednesday - seemed to imply i could then upgrade - but she was a bit confused

I have opted to go with Now TV instead. Can install it on smart tv and can guarantee all streamed games will, be on there

That's the same as me. The Sky Sports channels are via Now TV. I am hoping this means all channels become available nearer the time but I am still not clear that they will. Might contact BT.

Keep us all updated, if you would, as I'm in the same situation as you 'Herts'.
Having the cheap version of Sky (NOW TV) is great from a cost point of view, but I couldn't get the matches which were on Sky 'Red Button' in previous seasons, so I'm just hoping all will be OK this time. I have the 12 current Sky Sports channels on both my TV and, if I log-in, on my PC too - but no sign of anything 'Sky+' yet.

The channel doesnt officially exist yet thats why. Any live games this weekend are advertised on Now as Sky Arena

I did get the red button matches with this package. You had to go through the app.

Are you having a remote upgrade then? I have to have an engineer come round.

yes they said new remotes coming on Wednesday, and then there should be an app in the app store to do the upgrade
Mmm....I might see if I can do it myself. I'll give them another call.
