Wharton was more of an 8 at Blackburn wasn't he ?Palace would need to pay a record fee
Also they already have a ballplaying CDM in Wharton

Think they had a similar bid for Kelly turned down, so have gone for the next best optionCan’t believe that a Prem team would be in for him, don’t they know that our PPG when he plays is marginally lower than when he doesn’t? What are they playing at?!
Sheaf going wouldn’t be insurmountable, but going at this point in the year would IMO rule out a push for top two this year which is a realistic (albeit lofty) ambition.
It doesn’t matter who you bring in this late in pre-season, we’d be looking at January at the earliest before they are properly bedded in, and given our recent early season records and the existing set of players we’re trying to get integrated, that would be a step too far for us to really challenge at the top end of the table.
That being said, if he wants to go then it’s not so easy as just refusing. You don’t want a player - consciously or not - nursing himself through to the next transfer window in the hopes of securing his move. I’m just hoping we have this sorted for the sake of this summer, and if he then goes next year for less money then so be it. I’d rather have a really good go in this weaker division and sacrifice some spending power than cash in now and very likely end up with a weaker team in the short-term.
I'd be fuming tbh
Lose Sheaf it's another season down the swanny for me
operate as a deep playmaker at lot of the time for palace as that suits his game moreWharton was more of an 8 at Blackburn wasn't he ?
Think him and Sheaf would compliment each other well personallyoperate as a deep playmaker at lot of the time for palace as that suits his game more
the season starts in 5 days though...If we sold him but signed two CM’s and a first choice LB & a back up RB with the money I’d be happy enough with that.
Not starting games in pre-season and not having him in actual games isn’t the same though, and the loss of institutional, tactical and cultural knowledge of the club that leaves when he does doesn’t do so when he is injured or off on his jollies. I don’t doubt we can survive without him, I just don’t think we can be as good with someone else at this point in the preparations.Sheaf has played 11 min of pre season TBF, it’s not like we aren’t used to him not starting in this system.
Figure I heard was £15m rising to £20m.How much for?
We cant really say no to that in all honesty.Figure I heard was £15m rising to £20m.
That's four lots of salaries btw. I think people forget it's not just transfer fees.If we sold him but signed two CM’s and a first choice LB & a back up RB with the money I’d be happy enough with that.
£15k a week on 4 players in £3m a year. Thats a snip. That's four lots of salaries btw. I think people forget it's not just transfer fees.
Hi BooshIf Sheaf goes, surely we will see some backlash towards the owner. Imagine sisu lost Gyokeres, Hamer, O’hare and Sheaf in just over a year. Pathetic
Aw , be kindHi loser wannabe
Think I was mocking you , idiotThe phrase is treat people with kindness. If you want to imitate me at least get it right.
Wannabe
So over four years that is £12 million. Doesn't leave much for transfer fees if we get £15 million for Sheaf.£15k a week on 4 players in £3m a year. Thats a snip.
Too pessimisticI'd be fuming tbh

I guess we would have to take that... but I would point out first that Gus Hamer has a buy out clause!!Figure I heard was £15m rising to £20m.
Agree. If we sign Bobby Clarke on loan and spend 7 million on a LB we could cover the loss of sheaf but I really think we need to keep him. Our 3 of Rudoni, Sheaf and Torp/Eccles is creative and will get and set up goals. To be at the top of the league you need to have more than a few who are premier league standard. I think we have a few and need to add 1 or 2 more and not sell Sheaf who on his day is the best of them.If he goes we need to replace him with proven quality. We've got a massive squad now and I don't want anymore fringe players. If we get 15 million for him, id hope we spend 6-7 million on a ready made replacement that is better than what we currently have.

Would rather we spent that on a CM.£7m on a LB is absurd
The same was said when Hamer was about to be sold.Should imagine the replacement/s are already lined up ?
