On the replay he’s glancing up at the screen. Just run your race, man!
Yeah, think he'll look back on that as the one that got away. Shame really, seems a nice lad. Maybe that's the problem. Are our athletes just too nice? The Americans seem to have that killer instinct.

Hall and Hocker have both driven for the line big time. Kerr and Hudson-Smith both slowed dramatically 10m out.

He’s looking to see who’s coming doesn’t mean his legs can do any more 🤷‍♂️. Out of all the races 400m is brutal. Hardest track race there is…if you start tying up at the end, you start tying up, fuck all you can do

Kerr knew he’d lost the gold.

He did waste a lot of energy on Ingebrigtsen.

Also if Ingebrigtsen stays on the inside (expected as it’s shortest line) rather than moving out with one eye on Kerr Hocker doesn’t squeeze down the inside to win. Stuff happens that you can’t control sometimes.

Hocker was the fastest person in that race. He was a deserved winner. Again, Kerry just needs to brush it off, look 4 years ahead and improve that little bit so he can be better. Tough thing to do.

Be interesting to see if the funding for athletics stays at the same level for the next Olympics.

Didnt say he didn’t deserve to win. Unbelievable sprint at the end after having to check his run initially. Just things happen in a race that you can’t control…including a competitor pulling out something special

He was but he probably doesn’t maintain that speed if he has to run around Ingebrigtsen so Kerr can count himself a little bit unlucky. He very nearly threw away a silver medal to the other US runner.

I think the funding for athletics will be maintained for the next olympics. We’ve got some really good athletes who have just come up short against a dominant USA team.

I see the Americans are being caught up in a juicing scandal.

Apparently their anti-doping agency has given a load of exemptions for asthma, way above the average population.

Those two golds from the 1500m and 400m involved ? Their sprints/comebacks were impressive !

They must be immune to the effect of polutiion then I guess.
Sports Induced asthma, just throwing it out there?

Liverpool FC had the same thing iirc. Something like >70% had therapeutic exemption for inhalers which apparently have no material benefit to performance....

However, juicing is probably rife. The number of athletes implicated in the BALCO thing was wild. I think they were mostly caught after the lid was blown of the whole thing.

There are a few world records that still stand from the 80s both in women's events. The 100&200M have stood since 88 (USA) and I think the long jump world record is held by the soviet union over the same period. I'd bet my bottom doller those women were juiced to the gills.

Absolutely chuffed for KJT. She looked thrilled to have won that silver.

IOC has failed women and someone must be held accountable.
What a depressing time to be a woman or girl. They've set back years of progress by a failure to govern.

Isn't it great that athletes can change nationalities so they can appear in the Olympics, last night 2 Cubans finished 1st & 2nd in triple jump for Spain & Portugal respectively? 🤔

Dutch rider took our cyclist out deliberately. It's not even subtle. He should receive a ban for that.
