Dovin 6

Mve 6
Binks 5 - Early yellow clearly on his mind. That clearance out of the stadium...
Thomas 4 - Poor passing.
Bidwell 6 - Looked sluggish going forward. DaSilva will get a chance Tuesday.

Torp 4 - High hopes for him this season but didn't get involved at al.
Allen 4 - Hit and miss player. Was brilliant against Everton but very poor in the past 2. Teams know he's lightweight.
Rudi 6 - Good but not quite the levels he's shown in pre-season.

Simms 6 - Should not have took him off. Ref gave him nothing.
Saka 6 - Too deep.
EMC 5 - Started to scare them and then Robins took him off...

Subs

None of them really did anything.

It is what it is. Stoke were the better side and we were below par.

Jake Bidwell gets an easy ride because people repeat his name and it somehow means something. Absolute dross.

Allen CM for 90 minutes made me want to top myself.

Rudoni and MVE best players today by a long way.

Mark Robins - 1

Dovin 6 ok with ball at feet but didn’t inspire confidence with crosses , and megged for goal
MVE 8 about best of the bunch
binks 7 stupid foul / booking early on
Thomas 5 passing was shocking 2nd half
Bidwell 6 looked slow today
Torp 5 still looks lightweight , and like he isn’t sure where to be positionally
Allen 5 better without Torp
Rudoni 7 decent
Mason Clarke 6 average
Sakamoto 6 still getting fit
Simms 6 ok

Was just about to say I can’t understand how MVE isn’t getting an 8 from anyone. He intercepted a lot, was up and down the whole game, got past his man a couple of times in attack as well.

Binks was another 8 for me without seeing his involvement back for the goal yet but not sure that was much his fault and he was very good throughout otherwise.

Simms is still too nice at times. And the rest were all 6’s or lower. Allen is taking some stick so I won’t pile on to that with listing his score (much better second half though tbf).

He looked up for it today, which is more than Can be said for some of the others.

Got to blame MR for that utterly baffling team selection.
Apart from Eccles for Allen it was pretty much what we all thought wasn’t it? So much hindsight correction

I'd of started with Eccles and Palmer for Allen and Torp.

Allen looks good in pre-season friendlies, but when the games start for real he can't cope with the physical side, he's a league 1 player at best, and shouldn't be anywhere near starting.

Torp has very good technical ability, but has yet to get up to the pace of the championship and doesn't look like he knows where he fits in.

Too many people on here slate Palmer, but he's 10 times the player Allen will ever be.

Im Palmers biggest fan but he’s not a CDM mate. I really don’t think you could call the team selection “utterly baffling” - we just weren’t at it today and deserved to lose

I wouldn't of played Palmer as a CDM, Eccles would of fulfilled that position

Palmer would of replaced Torp who was a total passenger today.

I would never start Allen in the Championship, to do so is utterly baffling.

And yes we were poor everywhere. Simms looked like the Simms of the beginning of last season, EMC was very disapointing, Saka tried hard but got little service and the defence looked disjointed. Dovin looked rooted to his line, and Bidwell looked at fault for the goal.

But on a plus note, Sheaf's value has just rocketed.

Rudoni 7
Van Ewijk 7

Thomas 5
Torp 5

The rest all 6.

No urgency, even in injury time.

Not a good look with the new coaching staff, and expectations on the rise.

We dominated the ball & most of
the match after 30 mins but created f*ck all.
Our best chance, and move came after 90 seconds.

Not utterly baffling selection really. Utterly baffling performance though.

You can't play well if you don't have any control in midfield. Playing Allen and Torp together hands that control to the opposition.

I don't want to labour the point, but Allen should not be in our squad, and Torp is nowhere near the pace of the championship at present.
This has been blatantly obvious for a while, so I was totally baffled that Eccles didn't start.

With so little control Sakamoto and EMC got far too little service, and Simms became a spectator.

Eccles was poor when he came on. Maybe the answer is actually that we’re more short of what we need in the middle than we thought?

He made subs like it was a fucking friendly and all momentum we had built went in the bin

we looked off the pace , it don’t wanna say this but keeper looks out of his depth to me
