We also have an extremely ODD obsession with playing it wide , and just crossing all game rather than actually attacking the box with diagonals and we rarely shoot from outside the box or play balls to feet inside the box .

It's a bizarre thing to watch when you consider ellis simms can't head a ball

Particularly after waving play on when they smashed us in a far worse foul 30 seconds earlier
There was a moment in the first half where Sakamoto was cleared out and prevented from chasing a ball over the top. That is apparently not a booking but Binks tussling with an opponent in the first few minutes is.

If you’re going to card players for that early on then you need to be consistent all the way through. He wasn’t.

Pretty annoyed these wankers have ruined my holiday already tbh. Fancy being one of the pre season favourites and losing to fucking Stoke. Fuming.

Your holiday isn’t in Stoke is it? Saw a ‘Tracksuit Tom’ helicopter just now.

Okay, so where do we start with that?

Have to say, Stoke have looked very decent. They have been stronger and their passing has been crisp and have shown good movement.

They are harrying us and winning the ball back almost every time we have it.

We have helped though. Lots of mistakes and EMC and Saka have been anonymous. Torp has hardly featured either

I would say that only MVE and Simms have looked decent. Little flashes here and there from Rudoni.

Unless we improve (confident we will), we will most certainly lose this game.

I would definitely be bringing Eccles on if it was me.

Agree with all that, Stoke have lots of injuries, not even at full strength. 😡

I really don't care about the cup competitions this season and we need to focus on the league. We need to win games like this if we want a top 6 finish. Certainly didn't look like a top 6 team today. Stoke looked much much better than us and more fluid.

We were awful looked very complacent strolled around for 30 mins like we will win easy. The warning signs were there from the off. We still need more quality players to have real depth, but i hope this is a kick up the arse they needed.

We move on and i honestly think Robins can learn a lot about the true depth of his squad. Because certain areas we need more quality and we certainly need to get smart with the refs.

Undoubtedly.

Just such a poor start to the campaign
I do think Stoke will be decent this season so it’s not all doom and gloom.

We just didn’t create anything of note and our squad isn’t as strong as some people were saying in preseason. Only missing one starter and off the bench, after the first 3 subs there wasn’t really any one else to bring on.

Large parts of that reminded me of England in the Euros but without Jude Bellingham to bail us out.
That’s how I described a lot of performances from last season. We moved the ball well side to side but without any real penetration.

My takeaway is that sometimes too many options can almost be a hindrance - especially if you’re a manager who has been starved of them for most of your career.

Much prefer depth vs no depth. But three subs at once is unusual in football unless you’re chasing
I know what you mean. Almost feels obligatory to give some a game. That being said Eccles for Torp and Wright for EMC was fine for me.

Should really have scored in the first minute if we’re being honest. Yet somehow Simms didn’t pull the trigger.

How were the SBA today? Don't think anyone mentioned the crowd.

On and off from both fans.

There was a moment after half time where it was rocking.

Stoke fans noisy for 5 minutes after their goal and then spent the remaining ten minutes taking the piss out of twist and shout.

It's so much better sitting in the corner at Stoke. At least you can hear stoke fans for 5 minutes as apposed to 0 minutes like the past 3 or 4 times we've visited.

Ridiculous queue to get in though.

Only caught bits, and not much of the second half but the bits I saw did nothing to convince me that Jamie Allen or Bobby Thomas are the answer. Still need a CB and a CM for me.
