What's absolute nonsense in this competition is the semi final being played over 2 legs. I remember Boro last year beating Chelsea at home then getting battered away. Chances of beating a top prem side over 2 legs is neigh on impossible. Much more interesting if the semi was 1 game played at a neutral venue (not Wembley)

Wembley would make the most sense to host a semi final if we went down the neutral venue route. There’s not many stadia that are big enough to host the big teams evenly imo.

I do agree that 2 legged semi final is naff - it isn’t Europe!

Think anything with upwards of 60k would do. Emirates, Spurs, United, City etc. not everyone would get tickets but 25k plus per side is fine. In danger of having too many games at Wembley if this one was there as well

Kept it because it generates a lot of money for the EFL apparently. Absolutely ridiculous that the semi is 2 legs.

Home tie Vs a team we can beat. Nothing to moan about

Would have preferred lower league side but happy to avoid prem teams or decent championship sides

If we make 3rd round I imagine people will get excited then. I already am!
yep fine with having a little run in this and fecking off the FA cup. did that last year anyway. At least this one is all out the way before things get super congested at the end of the season

We have a squad to give us a fighting chance. After last year's exploits don't tell me we cant win it all. Especially as prem teams don't always play strongest team till final 8 or even final 4

Yes but we never lose at Wembley in normal time. Don't count the Community Shield.

Would it make sense to play at Wembley ? The league cup semi finals are played midweek. So if was Sunderland v Newcastle mid week in London for a one off game. . How many would make it. I've thought for a long time with the crowded fixture list it's a competition that should be scrapped.

I agree it should be scrapped tbh, especially being so early in the season.
