Though I agree Torp not the finished article as of yet, I do like how quick he receives the ball looks up and picks a progressive pass. Think he could be very good this year with Sheaf allowing him to be a bit further forward

MvE and Wright outstanding for me, don’t think anyone had a bad game particularly.

Dovin 6 no fault for either goal
MVE 8.5 MOTM hope we can keep him
Lati 6.5 ok but I panic every time he has the ball at his feet
Binks 6.5 good diagonal passes but looked leggy at times
Bidwell 5.5 can't fault his effort but should produce more with space he had out wide
Eccles 5.5 caught in possession a few times not the same player with sheaf missing
Torp 5 not impressed
Rudoni 6 great first half much quieter second half looked tired
Saka 6.5 some lovely touches still not back to his pre injury levels
Wright 8.5 shade behind Milan ice cool for winner
Simms 6 just not his night

Subs alI would have started Dasilva tonight.
Saka at about 70%. By Sept he will up to sspeed.

Palmer’s pass into Haji 2nd half was sublime. Should of scored from that.
.
Oxford got very lucky with ricochets and bizarre referee decisions., but refreshing to see a side go for it.

we’re going to be some team this season.

Captain Sheaf back next Sat?

Eccles is off the pace and the game always slows down when he's on the ball. And you really notice it when the game is being played at pace like this evening. He doesn't step up..
That's incredibly harsh
I thought tonight he distributed the ball very well especially in the first half, second half he tired and was more laboured but he put a great shift in tonight

Not sure you can seriously argue Dasilva doesn’t deserve to start ahead of Bidwell TBH. Better comedy chant too.

It’s weird, most people would say we put in a very good performance tonight, full of attacking play, yet some of our main players are being criticised as if they didn’t play a part in that very good performance….
I think there's still a lot of preconceptions about players judged on last season .
You only have to look at Lati who I thought was solid and composed tonight but is getting a lot of stick .
DaSilva is another who has looked fitter and more dynamic this season but is being judged on last season when he had some shockers

Give the players a chance , we don't have to have a boo boy or a player you dislike

I think all through preseason and appearances so far this season he has looked fitter, more dynamic and more of a threat than Bidwell. And that is only good for us moving forward this season

I called for Eccles to play tonight, but gave the ball away too often and in some poor areas. Bidwell caught of position a couple of times and I can understand why some are scoring Lati lower, although not 5, he's better on the ball than Thomas certainly was last week, but needs to be stronger and more dominant, I'd play Thomas ahead of him.

Stand out performance from MVE of course, couple if great goals from Haji and notable work rates from Ellis, Rudi and Torp. Not seen the goals back yet so not sure if they were offside or Dovin could've done anything different. Definitely not a free kick before their first though and I thought Ellis was stronger than their full back in the first half challenge so would like to see that back as I thought a great bit of play. Having said that, I'd have left him on and taken Haji off so what do I know?!

Dovin 6 - not really at fault for the goals and looked okay with the ball to feet.
MVE 10 - great performance, they could not live with Sakamoto and MVE linking up in the first half.
Lati 6 - Did okay but not a dominant CB
Binks 7 - Did okay, wish he would spray less speculative balls than he does, we have the ability to play through the middle when we have Sheaf back.
Bidwell 5 - If only we had another MWE at LB!
Eccles 5 - better than Allen but misplaced quite a few passes.
Torp 5 - not strong or fast and while he has some decent attributes we need to invest in one more CM either on loan or spend some money. I suspect that rides on Vik moving.
Rudoni 7 - good shot in the first half and linked up play well. Was sloppy in possession a few times, but we have a really decent player to mould.
Sakamoto 7 - very effective and linked with MVE excellently. Great to have him back.
Simms 6 - not lots to work with tonight but he is going to have a good season.
Wright 9 - on fire and looks to have improved from last season which is exciting.

2 games 3 points is an ok return but we need to stop shipping sloppy goals.

Watched their goals, embarrassing. Anyone who thinks the keeper shouldn't be doing better needs to have a word with themselves. First one went under his hand, second one him and Binks were ball watching.
I suggest you watch their goals again. Their first was struck with power into the bottom corner from around the penalty spot. Very few keepers would have saved that. For their second, their number 20 was unmarked so Dovin started to move over to cover the gaping hole in our defence. Instead he headed it across goal where Binks and Bidwells both missed it.
No way either of those goals was Dovin's fault.
