There's a very clear commercial business mindset behind these transactions. DK is acquiring assets for the business which he believes will only appreciate in value in the next few years. Its a much more solid strategy for the club to follow rather than chasing short term success via loans and journeymen.

Great signing. Young and very promising. Packing out the frontlines to cushion against any injuries that’ll inevitably happen as it’s always a long season.
This seems to have blindsided us so fingers crossed the CM and CB we need come out of nowhere too.

Be interesting to see if this moves BTA towards a wider position when he is used.

I think this is the one signing that actually excites me most. The fact we all know that it’s a position that we have pretty good cover for but yet we’ve still gone out and signed him must mean they highly rate this lads potential. He’s also got plenty of time to adapt to English football without the pressure of having to be first choice.

I think we still have a bit of a hangover from sisu of spending a couple of 100 thousand on a player in a summer is good business. The club is transforming and it’s an exciting time to be a fan. When they say money is there for the right player they’ve now backed this up enough that they mean it.

Thats right, but it does mean you have to have the funds available to speculate in the first place.

And that hasn't been the case very often.

I mean how often have we risked £2.5m on a teenage foreign player thats never played at any level in England, and that no one has ever heard of?

It would never of happened under SISU, and not very often if at all before SISU.

Been given number 47. Might be a bit of an indicator of his place in the squad seeing as 12, 16, 18 and 19 are all available.

I do think we need another midfielder ideally but I also think Sheaf’s injury has made it look like a more pressing issue than it perhaps is. Once Sheaf is back, which is looking like it’s going to be pretty soon, I think a midfield of Rudoni, Sheaf and Eccles/Torp looks pretty good on paper. The big issue is of course that Sheaf misses 10+ games on average per season.

Problem is, them midfield players are all susceptible to missing a fair chunk of games though injury

Sheaf misses at least 10 a year
Torp already missed some last season
Eccles, granted did well last season but was full of niggles the 3 season before that

A midfield of Sheaf Torp Rudoni is plenty good enough

A midfield of Eccles and Allen really isn't

Hence the need for a proper Defensive midfielder, of quality to go into the middle of the park

After that I don't think we are far away at all

Behind Simms and BTA then?

Tavares and Obikwu need to get down the job centre
Obikwu has a great future with us, I think. He'll presumably go out on loan, maybe L1 this time. He did well at Grimsby last season. As for Tavares...he's 23. I have to say if he was going to make it here then he already would have. Reckon he'll be gone at some point.

Forgot about Moussa, but tbf didn't even know he was Belgian

He completely tailed off after leaving us he was quite sought after during the Sixfields season as well
He was excellent during the Sixfields season. Being a scab who attended Sixfields I saw a lot of him.

I wasn't paying attention to Twitter or anything last night so didn't know about this signing until my lad came rushing down from his bedroom. I presumed it would be Madsen. I like when signings happen like this. Not ruined by a supposed ITK, just signs and that it. What's worse is when a supposed ITK says we are signing someone and then we don't.

Agreed, so at some point we’ll need a player to replace him.

It now looks obvious that Burroughs went out on loan to make way for his wages, rather than the bigger RB cover we thought might be coming in
Burroughs is a WB and we don’t play with WBs anymore. He didn’t set the world alight at Lincoln so a loan to Scotland makes sense because he needs first team football and hasn’t demonstrated (yet) that he’s at the level we require.

Lati will play RB in an instances MVE is rested or unavailable.

This is spot on. It’s a position prone to injury anyway, so we need more depth. I don’t mind the signing we have made, but to be competitive this season another midfielder feels a necessity.

I don't know why people think we didn't need a CF? We only had Simms as a proper CF.

If he's injured we are left with a winger playing as the target man / hold up player through the middle. Potentially Wright could move centrally but Simms was the only player that we didn't have a like-for-like style player for. It needed addressing.

Raphael isn't for development I don't know how many times people have to hear it

@Jimmy87 has said the coaching staff are very impressed and Robins himself said he is impressed with him publically

For balance every player in the team and squad are here for development.
