Out of curiosity. Has anybody flown out of the airport recently - my son is flying to Alicante on Wednesday (about 7.15am) and I was just wondering how bad the queues were at the moment (think him and his mates are meeting there about 5am). Any advice much appreciated from the ever helpful SBA .

Just hand luggage - thanks for your advice. Much appreciated
If they check in online and have boarding passes on their phone a sneaky way to bypass any queues downstairs is for them to come off the monorail from International station and go to security from there without even needing to go downstairs into the main check in area

If they wanna be on the safe side Fast Track is available for six quid on the airports website

Flew out earlier this month and even bought the queue jump as I was expecting the worst.
Wasn't even a queue to jump when we got there...
This was a late afternoon flight though so can't speak for the mornings where I imagine it's at its busiest

Same here. I flew from there at the start of August and bought the fast track. Didn’t even need to use it as there were no queues and was through in less than 5 minutes.

Ab was going to say I went from BHX a couple of weeks ago and had no queues, but I did take the monorail thing in.

I went to Crete from Birmingham about a month ago and although it was VERY busy the queues were moving quite quickly, so no complaints really, we were about 20 minutes late departing which is nothing.

Nowhere near as bad as we were led to believe.

Flew out Saturday afternoon the place was heaving. Literally not a seat in the place. Security however was an absolute doddle, maybe 10 minutes. Really impressed. Also they have a water station just through security so you can refill bottles

What’s the parking like at the international station ( start of the monorail ) ie cost for a week ?
