John Taylor - coo reply after asking why

Pete,

Yes, we have reviewed this in detail, number of factors, but one of the main ones is with the increased attendances at the CBS we want to encourage supporters to purchase ahead of the game and be consistent with our approach.

Please let me know if you have any further queries.

Thanks
John

@Sky Blue Pete i think i saw that someone said they would fix the fast ticket option when going online ? thats a minimum if they dont want to loose people as no one wants to walks around to the ticket office and queue on Match night unless they have to !

This is a typical BS response.

Especially midweek after work etc. If it’s pissing it down people just wouldn’t bother buying on the day after yesterday as nobody wants to rush home after work only to wait for 30 mins outside to collect a ticket

also the road situation did'nt help the numbers with last night - Foleshill road was chaos and thats with a 12k crowd - we are trying hard to make it very difficult to get there particularly from far off

Didn't really explain it.

I get why cash may not work for them but making people queue up for collection on a weekday when people have work etc just puts them off.

Why didn't they allow etickets to send to people's phones?

Nowadays you can easily have pos setups (like you get in McDonald's) where people turn up. Order on a screen. Tap their card, ticket fires out.

Think people need to remember that we don’t own the stadium.

Altering the ticket infrastructure isn’t going to be a quick or cheap job and we would need to either pay for it ourselves or convince Frasers to do it.

There’s lots of things that would be nice to have but I suspect King will be looking at how much extra revenue he can expect them to bring in against how much it’s going to cost.

On the subject of ticketing we quite often get ‘why don’t they do it themselves’ when there’s an issue with Ticketmaster. Interesting to see NEC Group are closing down Ticket Factory and moving to AXS. If it’s not financially viable for them to maintain their own ticketing platform I can’t see how the numbers will ever add up for us to have our own.

You don't need your own ticketing system, just the option for Ticketmaster to provide e-tickets like they do for all other events. I can't see a reason why that e-ticket would not have the same barcode format that is currently on paper tickets. Phones fit in the existing scanners at the CBS don't they? I have no skin in the game here, I'm a ST holder. I just know a few people who used the POTG option and would be put off by the hassle of having to queue at the ticket office, then fight to get round to the North Stand to have to queue again to get in.

Maybe missing something glaringly obvious, but why can't we have 'Card Turnstiles'. Where it's just exactly the same as a cash turnstile but you tap your debit card if they don't like cash?

Yes!
Sounds to good to be true ….must be a reason to do with FA rules on admittance having to issue a ticket to the person buying it for identity reasons etc.
Does any club have this fitted? Not sure they do.

It must be possible though to have a contactless/chip and pin reader at every turnstile surely ? It’s just another tender type- you tap your card, operator checks the correct ticket for age etc, gives you the next ticket from the pile and in you go. Doesn’t even have to reconcile with Fraser’s technology at all.

You could even take payments in the queue.

That happens anyway though, doesn’t it? You buy a ticket online, that ticket is emailed to you, you scan your phone.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m in favour of simplifying things but it can actually work at the moment. 90%+ of it is down to user error as-is.

I'm talking about a proper e-ticket that goes in your Apple/Google wallet. I think at the moment you have to open the PDF in the email they send and resize on screen/ensure brightness is correct. Although I also think they're still not sending the PDFs at the moment, it's all collect at the TO. Could be wrong though.

Or make an earlier separate visit to collect then return on the night, not really practicable for a fair number!

This is exactly the problem. The Ticketmaster e-ticketing system uses the Ticketmaster app which generates a constantly changing QR codes. Those codes are then scanned by readers using Ticketmaster’s backend system.

The tickets we use are static barcodes which can be used in the turnstile barcode readers. The pdf you get is literally the same as a paper ticket from the ticket office.

It shouldn’t be that difficult to change that so it’s a format you can add to Apple wallet but while that would be nice to have not sure it really solves the issue.
