Oasis Reunion (4 Viewers)

I mean, probably a few million in the UK I guess, plus many more abroad?! 🤷‍♂️

It’s pretty ridiculous hype. Joking aside they are ok but it’s very basic music and lyrics and they’ve built the image around supposed rivalry.

The best comeback gig of all time was Led Zeppelin by a country mile. It’s just a laugh in comparison.

It's not really ridiculous if the appetite is there though, is it? If it was Blue or The Cheeky Girls getting this attention then you'd be right. But whether you like it or not, they kind of defined an era/generation so the hype is warranted.

In terms of the basic-ness of the music and lyrics? I'd agree to an extent on the music but some of the lyrics are classics. And 4 chord songs can resonate with many more people than more complex pieces of music. A basic shortbread recipe doesn't mean it's not f*&king ace to eat.

Being early/mid forties, I wasn't really aware of LZ when they were around so their reunion pretty much escaped me. The one thing I would say is that wasn't there 30 odd years from them falling apart to getting back together again? That's double the amount of time Oasis have been split up so the desire for a reunion for LZ built up over a longer period of time - great anticipation etc.

And there's a fair argument that LZ were/are bigger globally than Oasis - I'd listen to that argument. Could the same be said about the UK? And what I mean by that is, perhaps the LZ reunion was 'bigger' in your eyes as there was more interest globally? I don't know the answer to that, just surmising.

I can stand outside, with my window open, listening to Masterplan for nothing.

Could stare down a few passers by while I'm at it too.

All I then need to do is to storm off into the house for the occasional custard cream and a cup of tea and I have the full package.

Agree on one of your best and your least, I hate Don't look back in anger these days.

These are my favourite track from each album by album release oldest to newest (1 = Definitely Maybe, 7 = Dig out your soul)

1. Colombia
2. Some might say
3. D'you know what I mean
4. Sunday morning call
5. Force of nature
6. Turn up the sun (great live and my favourite post 2000 track)
7. N/A genuinely don't recall a track from it

Such a shame it was a one off.

Well you surmise correctly, you had to register on a website to enter a ballot for tickets. The websile crashed. There were supposedly 20 million requests for tickets for the one off show with a capacity of 16,000.

Saw them at V2009 for their last performance and they were shite…so wasn’t going to go but got caught up in all the excitement …Gone for seated ticket at Wembley Aug 2nd rather than any other venue. £102 a ticket is bloody expensive but daughter can have it as a Xmas present. Booked the Ramada in north London at £530 for 6 of us which isn’t too bad really. Son and his mates have gone for Heaton park but at £148 to stand in a field seemed a bit steep. Just need to find and dust down the bucket hat now.

Too many to name favourites

My favourite song ever by anybody is Live Forever though

Least favourite oasis song? Has to be Wonderwall..overplayed, not actually that good, and the song everyone claims to 'Love Oasis'with

I actually openly change station if it comes on the radio or click next if it comes on Spotify

I’ve sort of struck lucky with a family member who is very well connected. The priority tickets won’t come online till tomorrow morning. He knows I’d never ask because unearned queue jumping always irritates me but the daughter rang him. Everyone who wants to see them will get a ticket.

Good for you!
Not sure that’s the case for the current gigs. As they’ve not released dates outside the UK and Ireland, people from across Europe will also be looking to get tickets as well. A mate on mine told me he read there’s 5% chance of getting a ticket.

I was toying with Turn Up The Sun from DBTT - great tune. Especially when the guitars kick in at the intro.

I think Andy Bell wrote that one as well.
