exactly this.
we know he's a confidence player, so what do we do? take him off early when the problem is in midfield. wow!!
Because MR decides in advance what the subs are and that is clearly one of them.

Their changes cut our supply to the wing areas and crowded the midfield and we were lost then no plan "b". The midfield were overrun once more,Ecless and Torpe both put great effort in but were just overrun IMO it looked like Norwich had an extra man on the field.
Like I say no plan"b".
Side note Simms has been with us long enough for the coaches to have taught him to trap a ball.
On the Palmer incident there must be something in his contract to stop that happening .(speaking to another club)

have you considered a career in motivational speaking?

His performance was dire. What do want me to say? He did well? He didn’t. He was laboured, awful with his back to goal, weak at chasing down balls and fluffed 2 good chances.

Saying he did well when he didn’t achieves nothing

he's been thrown scraps all season so far. changing him is not the solution.

Another turgid display. Doug’s had everyone’s pants down
Doug has fuck all to do with it. It's about the players on the pitch and the signings Robins has wanted. If he had wanted fewer forwards chances are we would have more midfielders. The game tactics are now totally confused. Players going off not getting enough pitch time to play themselves into any form whilst the midfield is stacked with shit who have to start. Robins not looking great either . Been fabulous with backs to the wall poor squads but this is different gravy . We've spent a shit load compared to most in this league and we look shit.

What’s starting to bug me is we don’t have a single player audacious enough to have a crack at goal like Weimann’s goal today. Or Harris for Oxford last week. Too many touches, trying to walk the ball in. As if Wenger is in charge.

Just back. That’s now 13 (THIRTEEN) fucking games on the trot I haven’t seen us win.

I really fucking hate football.

We’ve won about 40% of our matches overall in that time. Therefore the chance of not seeing a win in 13 randomly selected games is 0.13%. I think.

I fucking hate football.

I thought we were quite good first half, weak as piss second half.

MVE decent enough (some posters thought not, but they are wrong).

Rudoni missing in action second half. Never seemed to win any 50-50 he went in for. Bidwell came out second half and then imploded (probably tired) and should have been hooked sooner.

Lati generally decent again at centre half other than the horror scare pass right at the start.

We look unbalanced. Some of the players need to get used to the idea that they need to be able to play at a decent tempo for 90+ minutes. Torp looked better than previously.

I think if we took our chances first half, we could have went on to win that. We didn’t though.

The bottom line is we have lost most of the quality in our side and brought in mediocre quantity.
That said the likes of Saka, Rudoni and Simms should be sparking more and that's down to Robins to sort.
Bassette could develop into a good player, if we get the ball to him!

It's called Grunt for me, there's definitely a difference in quality but that resolute defence seems gone, exciting when we're winning matches under the previous lot, but alas not with the new crew ATM, all's not lost though, yes I guess we must be close to trying Haji through the middle now unless we give him about 5 game's to adjust to his new position?

You’ll be there to see us beat PNE at Deepdale. I’ve made it a personal mission to keep going to that fixture to witness such a historic event.

Full credit to Norwich yesterday, they bossed that second half with their ball retention without creating many goal scoring opportunities. From our perspective, 4 games in and 3 really poor performances, which is worrying as 9 of today’s starting 11 were with us last season. I know we miss Sheaf, but I can’t accept that for a club that’s spent 15mill in the summer we can rely so much on one player

I did not come on here right after the game as I suspected that it would be full of people who were only one step from calling The Samaritans. However my 5 things are

1. Sakamoto has lost it. See other thread. You might say the same for Simms and (very sadly) Bidwell
2. It's not the defensive aspect of midfield we need to worry about, it's the attack. Rudoni barely contributed. They seemed to have 13 men to our 11. Our goal tally is 0-1-3-1-1-0....pathetic really
3. Torp on the other hand had a good game as a scrapping midfielder. He made a bit of a goof and was hooked, but otherwise he was the best of the bunch by far.
4. EMC looks a real handful - liked what I saw. But still can't work out why we spent so much money for two people in the same slot though - Haji and EMC.
5. Never seen Robins do so many panicky substitutions before. Not his style at all. More worrying than anything else.

4-4-2 with Haji and Bassette up front and Lati as a defensive midfielder to ensure a clean sheet if nothing else. When Robins is under pressure his usual modus operandi is to hunker down go on the defensive and scrap for some clean sheets.

Overheard a chap on the way back to my car say that Sheaf is out for months. Is this true?

agree with some of that...
1, saka needs to reinvent himself. it's common for a second season when people have worked you out.
simms got shit service, so no issues with him from me.
bidders looked off the pace, and needed to leave an extra yard to compensate. not sure if this is a permanent problem or not.
4, emc did get better as his spell went on. but, personally, i would use him off the bench for now. fresh legs, and a new threat to deal with late on is always a good idea.
5, yeah, it did seem a bit desperate at the end.

lati in midfield might might be a good call.
if we go for 4-4-2 i would play simms and bassette. bassette looks good, and i'd like to see him get some minutes, assuming of course he would get some decent service.

whether sheaf is back or not, we need to solve this. because he will miss some games, we know that. and our whole season cannot be reliant on a single player being available.
