Some people will credit him for his work here, and whilst he did keep us up twice, the football was awful to watch in the main.
He was obsessed with playing 2 holding midfielders, and chose to ignore the obvious talents of Jacob Butterfield in favour of his loanee Diego Arismendi, a Uruguayan defensive midfielder, who was utter gash.

Despite signing Jim O'Brien himself, he stopped playing him after a few months, and most of us wrote 'Jimbo' off. However, like Butterfield, O'Brien thrived under Keith Hill, and it does leave you wondering whether Robins' man-management skills were up to scratch.

His interviews are as negatively dull as the football he served up.

And, as bad as it was to watch at times, his tactics were effective in the main.
He'll not give you free-flowing football, but he'll make you harder to beat. Could be just what you need.

We are in the second tier because we deserve to be. Wheras, you're in the pub league because......

As for suggesting we'll "easily" go down this time, then fair enough, you're entitled to that opinion. However, I'm pretty satisfied with 7 points from our first 6 games, and I'm looking forward to Saturday tea time, as we go to Birmingham City live on Sky.
I'll leave you to worry about being relegated to the basement division, as you prepare to entertain Carlisle....

Funny how times change and Barnsley sit comfortably in the relegation zone, whilst we are playing some of the best football we've seen for years and are currently on promotion form.

To be fair, Robins interviews are pretty non eventful. He says what needs to be said and that is all. Personally, it's a plus point. He likes to be taken seriously. Not many can pull off the Ian Holloway role and still get results.

He tells it like it is and that at the end of the day is his job. He doesn't get paid for hilarious anecdotes

He reminds me of Brian Clough. Not so much the playing up to the media, but his way with words. Also, I imagine he tells his current players they aren't the best, but they can be the best. Something I believe cloughie said?

Telling players that they are the best can lead to complacency, telling them that they can be the best will ultimately give them something to aim for. Clever man management skills!

Wierd that, I thought I was mad when I said he reminded me of Clough. And the fact his right hand man is a Mr Taylor?
Seriously though, love his interviews after games. Talks properly and talks the truth. Remember when we got our first win of the season, and he said it was the worst game of football he had ever seen? Honesty goes a long way...

You're not alone. I've said before he reminds me of Clough... quite a few have. TBF he does look a bit like him, but it is his way with words and the way you just... believe in him. He pulls no punches, his assessments are honest, frank and can be self depricating. I like that

I remember him coming on after that game telling us that is why Hill is much better than Robins

tbf he seemed like an ok guy mostly so I wouldn't be too harsh on him, we are all blinkered when it comes to our own club.

Its not like I am bitter or anything but it would be a nice bonus if Cranie and Clingan are in league 1 next year whilst we are back in the championship

The guy might have been right, Robins may have had Barnsley playing awful football. He's not here though. As someone's said, he's been working at a higher level and learning. I seem to remember Holloway getting QPR playing a different style to the style he implements in his teams now.

For me, he's the best manager in my City supporting lifetime (20ish years of going regularly).

He's got the players doing the basics (closing down, movement, etc) which very few previous CCFC managers have and the style we are playing is easy on the eye and very attacking. I love that we don't sit back on a lead any more, I love that full backs and midfielders are contributing in and around the box, I love that Murphy doesn't just lump it out every time. But most of all I love the work rate and effort he's instilled in players who have been under performing for the last few managers.

His interviews are detailed and thorough, think back to Thorns "urm, yeah.... The lads were unlucky" and compare it with the insight you get from Robins.

I'd honestly offer the guy a five year contract I'm that impressed. And for all the crap Wisher and Faggot get, they should be praised for one of the best managerial appointments of my lifetime.

Might be a bit to early to start giving him big contracts, remember dowie had us 3rd at xmas! then we didnt win for a lifetime.
Got to be patient and see where we are at the end of the season, then review his contract i would say!

Very impressed with him though, his interviews are brilliant i think.. its good how he always wants more and even when we win he still picks faults so we can work on them !

Christ alive, as much as I'm delighted with our current run of form it's a bit early for the comparisons with Clough. We've only won 9 league games under him!

When he's won back to back promotions and we're in the Premier League I'll accept Clough comparisons - but even that would be stretching it!

I remember reading that after Leicester sacked him, Holloway went to watch Roberto Martinez training the Wigan team. Said it completely changed his view on how football should be played and he's been pretty successful since. Maybe something similar has happened to Robins.

I'm really impressed with him so far, the football we are playing is exciting. It's nice and long overdue!

Wasn't it reported that when we went to the ARSE he was asking Wenger questions, enqired about how to prepare, etc.
He's a learner and getting better.
That is all.
