If you haven’t worked out that a clubs sustainable fortunes on the pitch are inextricably linked to the competency and commitment of the owner then fair enough, but it is.

We have a bloody good owner for the first time in over 20 years and there is nothing wrong in being happy about that.

Theres a huge difference between being happy about it and singing a song about him. For a lot of us, it's embarrassing.
Can you name another club who sing a song about their owners?

I'll say 2 things about that, firstly, King hasn't achieved anywhere near what the owners of those clubs have.
Secondly, they're still embarrassing for doing it and so are we.
But if people want to sing it, fine, just don't cry about it when it gets booed, which is equally embarrassing.

All that is fair enough and I have nothing against King, but the songs lyrics give it away. He gets a song because basically he's not SISU. I think he needs a good while longer before we decide he's been a "bloody good owner".

Yesterday was the first time I'd heard his song booed. So obviously, fairly or not, a few aren't happy.

Why ? We don’t apply that logic to players. They get a song from the outset.

king has been the owner for nearly 2 years, we can judge what kind of owner he has been so far, and we can change our mind in the future if that alters.

How many were booing Torch?
Said in an earlier post I didn't hear it and only knew it happened because my mate did and he mentioned it.

Difficult to tell, Clint. The song was being sung in the next block to ours. I would say a good few as the boos were really audible and the song fizzled out pretty quickly once they started booing.

It's pretty f*cking weird to boo a song that your own fans are singing. Like, really f*cking bizzare.

I agree. Said the same on another thread. What is behind it? Lack of signings in midfield? MR basically said he was shut down from strengthening with free agents during the international break. Or the pricing for the Spurs game? Who knows. King has shot himself in the foot a few times with pricing, particularly for kids. Not to mention the ticket exchange thing.

He gets some things right, he gets some wrong.
The adulation he gets is weird though, even if he isa massive upgrade on the previous mob.

fans are not stupid

king can come out with all the words but when you start alienating fans with ridiculous pricing on more than one occasion and messing with JSB’s and basically sticking 2 fingers up at families it won’t end well and the end of the transfer window deflated a lot of fans

I expect the booing was because we didn’t sign a 33 year old freebie. Presumably to replace the midfielder we bought for £4.5m. The £4.5m midfielder had his best game since signing. Unfortunately those that sanction signings have to get it right when you are a loss making entity rather than asking for more and more if it is perceived they’ve got it wrong.

That'll be a department issue rather than king directly I would have thought?
Possibly resides with the CEO responsibility?

And that can be said of Robins and every player in our squad.
I’m not defending a song for him and in full disclosure I have never sung it. But he’s part of us and if some fans want to sing a song for him that is fine by me. Booing other sky blue fans singing is weird.

Just a point about the song...Mr King didn’t put it out there. Our fans did, now it’s an issue because? Some fans don’t think it should be sung. Do you know who the problem is here?

Unbelievable shift in narrative being created here.

Because King has charged extra for the posh boxes, not brought a 33 year old midfielder in and over charged for a cup game against Premier league opponents.

We’re an entitled bunch of pricks aren’t we.

What? It’s nothing to do with either of those things

There's no shift in narrative, each action should be judged on its own merits.
He's done some great stuff, he's done some bad stuff
The idea he shouldn't be criticised by paying supporters because he's an upgrade on sisu is pathetic.

I think the song is more about being rid of Sisu and the dark days than it is Doug King himself. It could have been anyone who came in and replaced them, the relief of them going and the dawn of a new era brought great optimism and it is a way of vocalising that.
If you don’t like some of the decisions he’s made, of which some I disagree with, then don’t join in the singing.

I have never joined in the song. Like I said I was booing as I was messing about with my pals. I didn’t anticipate people joining in

Neither have I and that's not a reflection on the job he's done.

By and large, he's moving the club in the direction it needs to go if we want to be a Prem team. Unfortunately, the Prem and even now the Championship is treats football fans as consumers - £35 to follow City away the last two matches. Unbelievably, Leeds will be our cheapest away day in the league so far!

Football fans as a whole our fickle. When we win a few games again, all will be forgotten and the Robins and King hero-worship will continue.

I will not worship King any time soon I’m afraid. Nothing to do with ticket prices either

Why would you or anyone? He's just an owner and they come and go like players - I understand there was a lot of bad blood toward SISU but that didn't make King a good owner by default.

Personally, I think he's made a lot of commercial decision that make sense, but not popular. As a club, we've been accustomed to rock bottom prices because we were ambling in the depths of L1 and L2 and the previous regime needed to entice fans however they could. This isn't the case now.

The bigger is this: our ST prices are less than they were in 2008/09 - adjusting for inflation, that's massively impressive.

Like I said a shift in the very positive narrative to a point where fans are booing his song ffs.

Btw I mentioned those three specific things not as a whole but how fucking trivial they are.

Even judged separately they really don’t merit booing his song.

Like I said we’re a bunch of entitled twats.

You speak for yourself, I'm definitely not entitled, my bar for what will constitute a good season is far lower than most.

But that song was always going to end up soliciting that reaction at some point, admittedly its come a lot quicker than I thought.

And if those booing are entitled twats then those singing it are grinning, happy chappy simpletons.
