Arena Clean up (1 Viewer)

Feels like short termism. Particularly from the council. This isn’t an Aldi it’s a major landmark in the city for decades.

Everything in this country is about short term profit / value. We've orientated the whole economy around the city of London and it demands such thinking imo. Investors must be guaranteed returns and guaranteed them quickly.

I can’t deny, I was so excited when the arena started going up. We used to go over to Coventry shopping at that time and stop by the visitor/viewing centre periodically to see how it was coming along.
Still think it looks mighty impressive when you come over the brow of the hill on the A444

Great asset for the City, still wish it had been built more central though

Agreed.

Also looks good as you glance over from the M6 between J2 +3 on a sunny day

Amazed that the car park once had painted bays. Need x ray vision to see if you're within the lines nowadays
I know what you mean. Had twenty years of sun, wind, frost, rain and thousands of cars since then.

Agreed those sky blue panels look unbleached and shabby, that faint outline of the wasp always made me feel a bit depressed. Not really sure what they could do to make them look smarter. Maybe vinyl wraps?

Same can be said for most newer build stadiums. Wembley, looks tatty AF in parts. Also why on earth did they uses red seats, they have mostly gone pink from sun damage already, looks crap.

I think Brentfords new stadium has more of a patch work of cladding and multicolored seating for this reason, should mask the aging a bit.

The bricks that we do have need a good jetwashing, and the blue tiles need replacing I think with white. Would look good with the dark blue windows.
Those white stansions they cleaned up a bit last year but not the ones that actually attach to the roof (there’s a drone video where it’s obvious).
And all the remnants of where old signage used to be needs sorting - but obviously it all costs money.

Went to the Olympic Stadium in Berlin about 10 years ago. The bowl of the stadium is built entirely in natural stone, it's stunning. Can't say much about the powers that built it.

Went there in 98 (in fact the week after we beat Villa away in the cup)

Looked a grand place even then.

Think I'd look into a stadium wrap rather than replacing the cladding which would probably cost a fair bit.

If you had a wrap made to the correct dimensions it would look pretty good and would be cheap enough to change every season or two.

And we still don't own it that's the biggest thing for me seeing the old pictures of it being built. Richardson and his cronies should hang there heads in shame.

Yeah a few clubs do their stadiums. Trouble is I'd imagine if they went the wrap route there would be a massive risk of it all just being advertising. We have that big sign promoting the Monster event already.
