Whats that? Isnt there groups now?
No groups. Each team gets a randomly chosen set of fixtures of varying difficulty based on the pot system, then get points as normal and are ranked in one big table that you see above.

So the top number go into the group stages?

Seems weird, why change it?

Money. There are now 189 matches vs 125 before. Each team plays 8 “group” games instead of 6. More games to put on TV, more eyeballs, more money.

Even though I hate the way its going, I think I'll always love football. But I am making no attempt whatsoever to read into whatever the fuck they are doing with the Champions League atm. Looks a complete mess.
I'll pay more attention when we get to the knockout games.

add on a possible 2 play offs for those in the middle section, and thats 4 extra games per team who were moaning about too much football

Just realised the matches are over 3 nights which include a Thursday now too .

Can't help but feel that it's a bit much really , all very unnecessary

Martin Tyler's commentary is really dull, he always seems to be halfway a sentence that you weren't listening to and have no interest in.

I have no idea what he's been waffling on about for the first five minutes of the arsenal game but I'm fairly sure he mentioned something about hybrid cars.

They are all terrible nowadays, they need to just commentate on the game.

Peter Drury is annoying as well, wants to talk in poems to try and get a soundbyte, Fuck off.

Drury is tedious but not as tedious as the people on the internet that bang on about the bollocks he spouts out.
