They will probably follow China and India in burning lots of coal to achieve it though.

Doesn’t look that way. Africa and India having big off grid solar. Even if they did would be far more efficient than when we did it. You do have some very weird views about climate change.

Is the second coming approaching?
One of the biggest issues in the states is that many Christians believe god is in control and they will be safe when the shit hits
Also many who believe heaven is their home and the earth is just a temporary outpost
If you were being serious we do not know the time and I’m not sure there is a supernatural answer to our situation

Tons of carbon emitted per capita:

UK - 4.7
China - 8.84
India - 2.07
US - 13.8

It’s just racism to try and blame China and India lets be perfectly honest.
It’s avoidance and it’s where most of the human population is at
That’s why I say before we can solve the issue we need to face reality

That’s part of the issue I think the economic growth pillage and plunder model it’s not sustainable
we need to find a different measure

Man you really have been hanging out with XR! :p

I found them absolutely useless, hope your friend finds a better group.

Growth doesn’t have to come from more people. In theory it can come from living standards improving for those that are there.

I'm drinking through paper straws while people fly about in private jets.

I think the countries infrastructure needs sorting first (including power generation)

I’ve done a 180 on this is the last 5-6 years.

The emergency of solar + battery changes everything and I fully expect us to beat decarbonisation targets long term now.

Paper straws has nothing to do with climate change. That’s about plastic waste.

Interesting all of these MPs who are getting freebies like birthday parties paid for 🤣 literally all the same. Regardless of party.

Anybody who this Labour are just like the normal working class people need their heads checking.

Yeah normal working class people hate a freebie 🤣

Yeah but normal working class people aren't on the big salaries as these shite MPs are getting no where close and they are more than likely working hard than these MPs who are getting the freebies

That’s how politics is funded in this country though. The only alternative to donors is to have the taxpayers pay for each parties costs.

How about....they buy clothes and heat their second homes using their wage?

Seems a bit strange an MP in any party getting freebies / bribes.

You’re mixing expenses and donations here.

Why does it seem strange for a donor to allow the party he donates to to use his flat for a meeting or to buy clothes for an election campaign for his leader. Is that worse than buying leaflet printing or any other campaign costs?

If you don’t want people giving money to political parties then you need to pay for them out of taxes. Is that really what you’re asking for? Higher taxes to pay more to politicians? Because it’s quite off brand if so.

Why can't they just pay for it out of there own salaries or the parties budget. That's how people pay for things isn't it. Why does it have to be tax payers money. They are all just fucking scroungers

It is out of the party budget! Where do you think the party budget comes from?

We are talking about a Labour Lord who is also a Labour Donor offering things to a Labour Leader during an election campaign.

Not sure if this is a serious post?

If an MP needs clothes or their second house heating, they get paid enough for it.

Not that he’s too shy of using the public purse

How do you think political parties should be funded?

lets start there.

Trade Union: Here's some money, get something nice
Starmer: Im in power now, here's a massive over the top pay rise for your members to say thanks for the clothes

Yeah you keep saying you don’t like donations. Which is why I asked you to start with what you do want.

This is like getting out of my 9 year old what she wants for tea.

Not sure it’s racism so much as a lack of appreciation and understanding of what China have been doing with regard to solar, EVs etc and also the fact that because they’re such a big country/population the damage being done is still huge. The new coal/power plants don’t help either. The US should be doing a lot more !

Im glad we’re doing our bit but ultimately it’s totally insignificant in the grand scheme of things

Certainly not racism.

I didn’t know China was in Africa

It’s not though. Providing a market, inventing technology, that’s how we get out of this. The European and Us market for solar is a big reason costs have come down to a point where some guy in a village in Pakistan can power himself without waiting for the grid to be built out.

I mean, they are, a lot, but that’s another conversation.

You were saying when Africa gets rich it’ll be terrible for the environment and quoted India and China as proof. Despite them not being terrible for the environment really.

Also Africas birth rate is already dropping like everywhere else. The world average is down to 2.3 children per couple, only just above the replacement rate. Overpopulation really isn’t a concern.

Bollocks is it racism.

I said “They will probably follow China and India in burning lots of coal to achieve it though.”.

The figures you have quoted have no relevance to that statement.

These graphs show how China and India have increased CO2 emissions as they have sought to increase wealth, compared to UK decrease over time. If per capita CO2 production is the yardstick, someone needs to have a serious word with Palau

Not controlling for population is not serious. Half the planet lives in these two countries and you’re comparing them in absolute terms to a country of 70m. Come on.

I have posted some graphs.
What we are doing is insignificant, it’s China, India, US and Russia that need to be taking more action
