Looks like he’s carrying so much pressure and frustration on his shoulders. Fought harder than most today though

Fed up with the abuse Eccles is getting from people sat around me now. It's all game regardless of what he does, even though he's playing better than most. At one point a guy down the row shouted that he was a "faggot" because he "backed out of a tackle". Embarrassment of a fan base.

That's very strange, as he's one of our bravest players. There's plenty in the team that are too weak/soft, but he certainly isn't one of them.

Agreed. Eccles is a very good player, goal saving tackle at Watford was the best piece of defending I've seen this season, for us and any opposition.

As for calling someone a "faggot", come on, we need to be better. Probably the same people who sing about how "wonderful" Coventry is. It maybe funny when you're 12, less so when you're pushing 40.

3 years ago someone decided he was shite so he must still be , the guy is getting close to being the 1st name on the team sheet
He's proving to be more than decent at this level but still the knobheads knock him
He's very close to being a very good player , one who can go on and play at a higher level . Always been one of my favourite players

Not one for bashing players at games, but I personally don’t see it with Eccles, don’t knock his work rate and his fight in games. Unfortunately both in and out of possession he is limited. Steady, but will never take control of a midfield battle.

2 things, firstly, he has comfortably been our best midfielder this season.
Secondly, not every midfielder has it in their locker to control a midfield battle or dominate a game, some act as a foil for those that can.

Unfortunately the player in our squad who we're relying on doing that has an ankle made of quavers.

I’ve been an Eccles critic but he’s massively stepped up recently. He’s playing some outstanding balls forward, looks on the front foot, is one of the better defensive mids in the division. Also the only one who looks like he gives a shit. Last place any fire should be directed right now.

Probably the best player on the pitch (and I rarely say that about Eccles) but the issue is he’s still improving and not perfect. In his game there’s still a lack of leadership, control and ability to unlock defences (in terms of range of passing and vision).

What annoyed me is when asked by Clive if he was telling his teammates what to do he basically said “sort of, I can’t tell everyone what to do as I don’t feel like it’s my place, theres 10 other captains on the pitch”. I think that’s endemic of what’s going on out there, there’s no leadership or help given to other players, even the captain seems to think it’s down to the players to sort themselves out. I’d be giving the armband to Bidwell or Thomas tbh, we need someone more vocal as captain.

While you have a captain ( Mc Fad.) players should not need to be told what to do their given that before the the game .If a player leave the field and has not given his all he need to look at himself.

I actually think Eccles has the ability to knock in maybe half a dozen goals a year. He's technically capable of pinging in a a good shot, but up to now he seems to lose composure when chances come around the edge of the area. Hopefully we'll see a few crackers from him this season.
Yep-next to the Turkey while enjoying the festivities.

I'm not that surprised to be honest. He played a couple if really good balls Saturday as he did against Spurs last week.

Once people got it into their heads he offers nothing going forward few will change their opinion even if he morphs into prime Glenn Hoddle

Last few games he’s been a different player and TBF one he’s always been capable of. I think whether it’s the shit show around him or the captaincy or just maturity he seems to actually playing to his potential. It’s great to see.

He did play some nice diagonal balls and he can have good games and be effective but overall, I don’t think it’s quite good enough to get us to the next level as a CM. I think he’s a good squad player, nothing more.

The fact he scored two sublime goals in the playoff season does Indeed suggest there is more to come in that respect, no doubt, pass it into the net Josh!!

He’s been a lot better so far this season, definitely, but I’m still not seeing where these amazing amount of progressive passes are coming from. He’s upped his game for sure, and okay the stats don’t lie, but I still don’t think he’s affecting games enough for me to be like “wow Eccles is incredible”. I know 90% will disagree but that’s just my view on him, suppose that’s what forums are all about 🤷🏻‍♂️
