Worse players but a better team. Turner was in both IIRC. I stand by my point that I don’t think Eccles has played in much better teams. Closest was the PO side but that was two PL class players and a bunch making up the numbers with good spirit really.

The finishing league positions of the teams Eccles were in says otherwise.
Even the Wise team, though it finished 8th, was never really in the play off shake up.
We've been in the shake going in to April for the last 3 seasons.

Eccles is a good championship player and I think will go on to be a solid lower Mid table PL player and if we follow his trajectory as a club he’ll be around for a long time and might become a home town hero

Mmm, can’t see it. Is making good strides but Premier League level? 🤔
Only 2 realistically would have a chance in my opinion and that’s Wright and Milan.

He had PL scouts watching him last season apparently.

(and yes I know being watched by PL scouts is very different to being a PL player!)

And Turner the Beast of a player (sorry Clint, David) clattered into the goal Frame, season over!

Ranson was an awful chairman.
Agreed. The idea of signing good, young undervalued talent was great on paper (Westwood, Dann, Fox, Gunnarsson etc). but he couldn't deliver on it.
Employed an awful manager like Coleman to lead them & then we screwed up on contracts so ended up losing them for less than their true value anyway.

Trusted idiots like Coleman to manage them & then we screwed up on contracts so ended up losing them for less than their true value anyway.

I'm still convinced that contrary to the rules there was some 3rd party ownership involved in the Fox and Dann deals

Hmmm, not sure.
What I do know is we kinda stumbled on them by accident. The scout who recommended them we had actually sent to watch Anthony Gerrard.

I like him, but not a fan of 4 years with his injury record. If he does well it will be ripped up and he'll get a better one, if he remains injury prone we're saddled. With some players I understand the risk of losing good players for free but he's under 24 and we'd get to a tribunal fee at worst case. I'd have certainly kept him for his potential but would have probably given him 2 years with a third in the club's favour.
At least he's over his injuries now, and I was right they did rip it up and give him a better one 🤣
