How are we building still the team last night was only a few players different from last year don't understand why they are struggling so much.
Everything points to the coaching infrastructure. It wasn’t broken, so they fixed it anyway. 🤷‍♂️

Jesus Christ we've spent £45M on players and after 10 games you reckon "we just needed to not lose" against bottom of the league who had last 4 on the bounce.

It’s a form thing. When you’re in a rut you just need a result to get points on, in my view we had the better of the chances and deserved to win. Again, we’re one point worse off than we were after 11 games in 22/23, it’s important to keep patient and not chuck the baby out with the bath water by sacking Robins.

We’ve spent that amount but we’re in a league where a lot of teams have spent that kind of money too. People will say spending £4-5m on a L1 is extortionate when we have L1 teams spending £15m on a single player - the values of players has increased a lot. The market is crazy.

0 goal contributions for our CMs and wingers in 14 games tells you everything. That’s an area we need investment in.

Well it was because AV had a lot of internal enemies and was clearly sacked for gross misconduct.

Robins wouldn’t have allowed it unless something was genuinely wrong.

Again I agree but we have to negotiate the rest of this month and then at least two more before we can rectify anything.
For sure, the first thing you need when you have a losing streak is to break the duck. We need to avoid defeat v Luton and go into two fixtures consecutively where our recent form against Middlesborough and Sunderland has been favourable going into the international break.

There’s this fixation on strikers not performing where we have 4 CMs and a wingers who have failed to achieve a single goal contribution in 14 games. In fact, the only one who has is actually EMC who’s had dogs abuse thrown at him.

True.

I like both Sheaf and Eccles and think that as a pairing they work together well too, but neither of them score goals and that is a major concern.

If i may make a point, I think we've laid the foundations to start building blocks and now just need to cement that position.

I’m not sure they’re that great a partnership. Comparing our record against top half teams in 22/23 and 23/24 paints a picture. Both Eccles and Sheaf played in those seasons. However, both of these players are good progressive deep lying playmakers - imo Sheaf is a lot better at that job without being an insult to Eccles. We need someone who’s more adventurous on the ball and puts the ball into advanced players in the final third/the box. Torp did this well for Simms chance and if Eccles is injured for a stretch, it’s his time to step up to the plate - too often he looks classy one minute and lost the next!

Back to that CM partnership, they both need a CM next to them that can drive the ball forward (dribbling) and more adventurous with their passing. With those two as the anchors, we play football in a lateral, almost semi-circle shape, if you will i.e. CM to WB, CM to CM, back to the opposite WB.

Eccles is making strides to his passing range, tbf but his best passes are sideways/diagonal - he played some really good balls to WBs and a tasty cross… What we need was to put more balls in behind for the strikers.

I don't think it is a big deal. He's using the term because we didn't lose the game and therefore hopefully have something to add to next week. A bit of a soundbite but it makes sense given the result.

Again though, there are people jumping on each thread like to shut down any dissent like an alarm has gone off, and these are the people who don't watch the games in what I gather, pretty much any capacity. Of course you are going to feel less emotional about it.
Odd.
