I don't think the formation also helps Sakamoto really, as I'm not convinced he can play in that wingback role as well as his normal position.
Prefer Wright out on the left as well, but we're probably sticking with this set up now until at least Bidwell is back and results are what matter at the end of the day

Should only be as concerning as Gyokeres, Wright and Simms (who were all older) were in their first quarter of a season with us... they came good and he'll come good aswell I'm sure, he has time on his side!
Trust the process and have some patience (difficult i know!).

Not really, he may come good but our best players of recent years have come from Prem clubs and top division in Hamers case.
The over inflated price of lower league players is not good although there are some good talented players out there who can make the step up but if we are genuinely looking at being promoted our so called talent spotters have to do better than the likes of Kitching and EMC who may yet turn out good but for 4 to 5 million you would expect a more finished player ...lets hope they progress

There was a phase last season when everyone was loving Kitching, he has been less good the last few months but he may come good. I think it's way too early to be writing off EMC as you say. I agree that 4-5 mil for League 1 players is a risk when they have not been tested. I suppose it's a calculated risk when you buy these players, if one of 3/4 League One players sells for big money then they'll be worth it.

32 goal contributions from the wing is not a risky deal. We’re writing off a player who just needs to find his feet, the same was said about Wright and Simms this time last year.
They turned good and I believe EMC will too.

Not exactly true, we actually have a player we paid over £4m for on the bench, the evidence (so far) would suggest he's no where near good enough for that valuation.
We do need depth to the squad of course, but that depth needs to be challenging for a start, and pushing the players in front of them to keep their form and give 100% every game.
As it stands, our squad is carrying players like Collins, EMC, Raphael, Allen and Tavares, who (as of today, and obviously when fit) arnt really challenging anybody.
(Before anyone has a hissy fit, there's 1 or 2 mentioned above that still have time to turn things round)

Can’t really argue that the price of lower league players can be inflated though. Would have been nice to have the finished article / someone who hits the ground running but he hasn’t really been given a consistent run yet.
Even players in the top leagues can sometimes take a whole season to find their feet. I think given the attributes I’ve seen from him so far, I’m fairly convinced he’ll eventually come good if he’s given the opportunity with us…

Sporting seem to have done ok with one of there signings !! I think he was about 24 cost about 20 mill and has now developed into a super star worth apparently £80 million ..cant remeber his name though

Who is righting him off? Certainly not me, in fact a few pages ago I believe I stated that EMC just needs time.
In my opinion, it was risky, as the gulf between the Championship and L1 is ever growing, and EMC is 25 and played only at a lower level.
£4.5 mil just seems, imo, a huge financial gamble on such a player.
The players that you mentioned came from top tier clubs, and Simms has never been prolific in his career to date. That too, imo, was a gamble. One that Sunderland didn’t fancy taking, despite Simms scoring 7 goals on loan there.

My analogy actually meant buying players from a lower division, not meaning the price paid. If we had paid £4 million or so from a equal to us or higher division its less of a punt because we would know if they can cut it in a higher division so for the cost alone it appears that Dougs had his pants pulled down but as I said before he may well come good but its a risky game for that sort of money..To end this maybe I should have said we should be shopping at Harrods but ended up at CO OP

Why are we obsessed with his role in a first 11. What happens if Wright is injured or Sakamoto? He can play on both flanks and through the middle. A very useful addition. The form will come - he’s good enough.
