... (Signing of Clarke) I fully expect CCFC to put in 100% effort to sign McGoldrick, he has been too good to simply, let go, we have lot going for us, bar money (which is #1 unfortunately). Just imagine if we kept McG and signed Clarke? We'd have the best L1 striker and one of the best as well as Cody and Elliott 3rd and 4th choices. Clarke adds a bit more physicality so could be handy v your PNE's of the world as well as being able to chip in the goals. I hope we sign both permanently but it looks unlikely we'll sign McG but I'm hoping Clarke is being brought in as a plan B and to add more strength to the squad, he looked good against us, but he should've scored a free header ;)

Good luck Leon Clarke, you're going to need it if you're replacing McG!

P.s. I'm somewhat resigned to McG leaving now.

I don't think we can keep taking players on without losing some, if for no other reason than wages. We'd have heard something if Goldie was staying, this is a like for like deal, and one which I'm reasonably happy with!

I think they HAVE tried, and failed which is why we have moved for Clarke. Robins will have been told that McGoldrick is out of their price range, suggestions that he was on 10k plus at Forrest where as Clarke will be on league one wages meaning we can offer something competitive. The fact that he is coming on trial also shows that Ribins wants a closer look before commuting. Robins has also been non committal in going for McG saying he like him but what ever happens, happens.

I would live the two of them, we'd fly up the league but may be just too much to ask in our current plight.

our only chance in my opinion of promotion this year was if we could some how keep Mcgoldrick here at least til the end of the season....and he will go! no surprise there city,a club with absolutely NO!!!! ambition. when results go back to normal service, cos no one is scoring..you only have yourself.

@JamesNursey: #NFFC David McGoldrick told #CCFC Coventry he won't be staying when his loan ends soon. He has several Championship clubs after him

We could offload Cody and Bell and keep McG, but good things don't happen to CCFC.
Here's hoping.

Can't just offload two players who are in the middle of their contracts? I don't think McGoldrick wants to stay anyway, especially as if he's offered more money in a better division.

I'd say this is indeed replacement possibilities for McGoldrick and based on the rent not being reduced even further perhaps? Joys statemenet was akin to saying its still 800k + so we will be seen as having no choice in letting McGoldrick slip away? Bar humbug council their new target (business rates/community spirit etc) SISU just keep pulling new ones out the hat. As OSB has said tough this merely muddies the waters and has no impact on rent. That is a constant. Expecting the council to reduce business rates to near zero and ACL to come down further is hard nosed indeed. But its a 'community' thing right?

Merry Christmas all!!

I'm not sure how failing to sign McG shows no ambition. It shows little resources and that's about it!!

Everyone? Hardly. He'll probably go but no one knows for definite until its official.

what more official notice do you require his replacement is brought in. I must admit im pleased to see sisu not waiting untill Mcg has gone.

How do you know it's his replacement? All our other strikers have hardly set the world alight, mayme apart from Elliott, slightly, under Thorn!!

maybe your right but i still don't see it. All are other strikers will be a lot harder to move on. If you think about it realistically its obvious that he is Mcg's replacement.

Official notice is normally something like "such and such goes back to parent club" not "another striker who has been dubbed mcg's replacement by the fans makes his exit official".

Cody could be loaned out to L2 where he's actually proven and probably have a season akin to McG. I'm still cynical as to whether he'll stay, I'm just saying that this doesn't confirm that he's gone!

Would love to keep him however if he leaves I hope he is poor and has a major goal drought.no bitterness honest lol

Clarke is as good a replacement as we could hope for for McG, but being able to play them both together would be a nightmare for Lg1 defences. Lets hope.
