Does anyone know the extent of Haji Wrights injury?
Apparently the team coach stopped at the services on the way home today and the players chatted with supporters so wonder if anyone asked how he was?
He is the only consistent goalscorer we have right now so I’m hoping he is not out for an extended period.

Was a nasty one, went right over his ankle, it was bad enough he couldn't put weight on it and needed a stretcher so would have thought new year before he's back.

Don’t recall seeing a player sitting on the advertising hoarding for five plus minutes before waiting for a stretcher. Didn’t look great but hopefully it’s a fortnight and, if so, means we avoid a stupid amount of air miles and the usual game or two of resting him after his international escapades (assuming he’d been called up and USA have games - haven’t been arsed to check).

I've done something similar at work and was out for months, stretched all the ligaments. Doctor literally said to me it would have been better to have broken my ankle. That was a few years ago and that ankle is still weaker than the other.

This is true done it myself, I don't know if there's an operation can be done to tighten things up afterwards but it took year's to actually stop getting the sensation of discomfort or reoccurring.

Remember Gary Mac doing it in a game and inexplicably was back in the team in the following match, unbelievable really!

Possibly payback for Douglas.

I guess good thing is that we have EMC if playing wingers, and BTA/Bassette/Simms if we play 2 forwards. These guys will hopefully step up with goals. I fancy EMC to start putting some away.

Before we start panicking though I had a lot of that type of injury when I played sport and the human ankle can be surprisingly flexible. Hard to tell from a still but if he has mostly rolled it sideways he might not be too bad. If he has full 180ed it and done ligaments and bone we won't see him til after xmas but I wouldn't rule out him starting against Sheffield United just yet.

knackered my ankle at a power league in slough (glamorous) about 6 years ago and it’s still knackered. Hurt it again a few months back Got an MRI two weeks ago said might need to operate.

Feel like ankles are really she’s to get back to full health again

Yeah hopefully it's just soft tissue damage and a bit of swelling. Still very painful but with the right treatment he could be available for Sheffield United, or shortly after. Let's have our fingers crossed it's not ligaments, because then It could be awhile, depending on the severity.

Yeah, that doesn’t look good at all, judging from the still image. Hopefully, he’s a quick healer.

Although, it does look like Haji and the Sunderland player are in a breakdance battle.

As others have said, for a significant inversion ankle sprain like this you are talking 4-6 weeks ish.

All still images of ankle sprains look worse than they are tbf, so doesn't necessarily mean its a really bad one. He did also look in a lot of pain but that isn't a great predictor of injury severity.

Stretcher will have been brought on either in case of fracture, which you can't rule out if struggling to weight bear (would obviously mean a longer time out), or just for his comfort and to prevent further damage. The latter is more likely IMO as they wouldn't have let him walk on it at all if fracture was suspected.

It was a total fluke as well, went to put his foot down but just caught the Sunderland players boot with the inside of his foot and so rolled his ankle.
