Don Mackay. With a football suspended half way to the moon representing the style of that era. Accompanied by a mural of 7,000 freezing long suffering souls at HR wondering ‘WTF is this’ as the ball was launched towards the mixer for the 1,000th time that afternoon. We sometimes think things are bad these days - 1985 was a whole new level of suffering.

Mackay was given a hospital pass as an appointment and saved the club from going down and into oblivion. For that at least we should be grateful.

He was a progressive coach and had some success at Blackburn and Fulham. He then was a main scout for Arsenal

I can remember him laying the seed's at Blackburn before Jack came along and bought Shearer etc, deffo not a failure and indeed unfortunate in his posting here,may not have been scintillating to watch but held the fort from memory!
