Not a fairytale but idiotic to say he did the bare minimum. It's his style of play that got him to Bayern.

Meanwhile idiots on here acting like rob Edwards is a better manager than Kompany lol

I'll bite, the same Bayern who lost 1-0 to Villa and got dicked by Barca?

I'd Kompany had taken a mid championship team to the title, I'd be agreeing he's the bollocks.

His style of play works at Bayern because generally that football works with elite players or a big technical advantage over the opposition. He has both there, but neither at Burnley when they got crushed in the top flight.
Completely agree.

He's only ever succeeded when the players he has are better than everyone else's. His squad were good enough to have stayed up had he changed the style to suit the league and opposition, but he didn't have the nous / ability to be pragmatic.

Same with Maresca; he didn't seem to have great nous last year, just a better squad then his opponents. Think Leicester would be doing far worse if he were still there.

Lampard among the leading names to succeed Mark Robins. Lampard is thought to be prepared to speak to Coventry, even though he has not formally applied for the job.

Weird.
Maybe we are not going to appoint anyone until Frank Lampard applies.

He stuck to his guns in prem and I respect that.
You respect that his team got relegated without a fight because he didn't know how to get them to play in a way to keep them up?

Ok. Strange take, but ok.

It's really simple do you want mark robins replaced by a manager who may make it to the v top of just someone you can say yeah he's pragmatic???
I want someone with the pragmatism to succeed. We're never going to have the best players in the division, so if a manager tries to play a style that requires them, they will fall on their arse.

There is a hierarchy in football.

the big names don’t apply their agents tell the clubs they are interested …..

It’s not weird that FL sees himself in this way, whether it’s justified or not.

So Edwards style is a fighting chance 26pts

Burnley didn't put up a fight 24pts

Ok....

If we're going to compare them (which I wasn't): last season Luton lost a lot of points from winning positions (often big winning positions), and lost a lot of games late. That suggests a squad without the quality / experience (and this can apply to the manager, too) to manage and see out games.

From what I recall, they were also in with a fighting chance until the last month or so, when their form completely bombed.

Burnley were never in it.

That's how I saw/remembered it!

Whole telegraph article seems a nonsense.

Everyone has reported Frank did apply including the club owner. Seems also a couple of days out based on toms reports interviews have already started (over the weekend).
