I think @Jimmy87 is mixing his drinks here.

Top candidates don’t apply. Their agents let the club know that their client would be open to talks.

Certainly managers under contract, such as Carsley, do not apply !

It may well be true that they didn’t apply but that doesn’t mean they were not interested.

I’m not saying they were interested, but it may not have been media nonsense.

I’m starting to think the Edwards thing has merit. Maybe we’re dangling a carrot to Frank knowing he’d negotiate but ultimately be out of our league.. hang it long enough so Edwards becomes available

Breaking my heart Jim 🤣. Any update on Lampard and if we can expect to hear something soon?
Like I said earlier in the thread, I first heard Lampard at QPR away. Was told no different after Robins went. Asked the question yesterday and was told still Lampard. I suppose people can speculate as to whether or not it needs to appear as though it's been a thorough application process.
Just catching up on this thread, seems as though news is leaking that talks are advanced, would suggest final stages, all depends on what the terms are.
I've not heard if / what coaching staff he may bring.
Guessing Cole / Morris would be in the running.

I guess to be fair even if it was a thorough application, bias can turn the blinkers on.

For all the positive and negative feel like Doug is very head strong when he makes a decision and this might just be more of the same (Don’t mind Doug much better than Sisu and I do trust him to do what he thinks is right).

Agreed. Only he will know what his thought process was.
I can only go by what I hear. I actually didn't believe it when I heard at QPR, the first time I'd thought my source had to be wrong.
I didn't think King would want to pay him out of his contract.
Then when Robins was let go, my instant thought was it must be Lampard.

My thoughts on King are obviously mixed, by what I hear. I try to remain balanced though, because I do see the good he has done both behind closed doors and what we as supporters get to see and know about.

Same here on thoughts but must be difficult for yourself as you’ll be privy to information we won’t from people who have their own opinions and views.

I’m gonna call it now.

Lampard announced on Thursday/Friday. He’ll get a presentation on the pitch before the Sheff Utd game (live on Sky 😉). Will only officially take charge on 27/28th (after Burnley away). Gets a few days with the players before what really should be a gimme at home to Cardiff.

Think he won’t pick up Sheffield but couldn’t see why he would start after Tuesdays match. Understand it’s a hard first match but surely he’d want to start as soon as

The Morris that he's fell out with?

I don’t understand why they’d hold off until after Burnley.
The games are only 3 days apart, he wouldn’t have any time to implement anything. Wouldn’t want to make any radical changes either with no time. And it’s obviously a very hard fixture.

Get the players in with Lampard on Sunday for a first meeting, Carr takes proper training Monday and the match on Tuesday, Lampard takes over fully on Wednesday.

This actually sounds quite logical. Sometimes a view from the stands can give a new manager more food for thought.

So we're now excluding the good run in the middle of tehe season so we can get an even bigger 14/15 month.

Fk me we were poor in some of the L2 season he's been shit for 7 years - new Top Trump!

No way have we spent £45m either, but as I alluded to above, we're competing with bigger and better budgets, the '£45m' was self generated from his sales and even then would include not only stage payments not reached without success, but also of lower quality than two huge players going out or would have cost the same. Players are valued at £20m for a reason. Even if you replace them with a strong £7m player, to expect the same woudl be folly or the club paying £20m would have bought them instead for less!

We can't have it all ways. Equally not all signings will be a success - at any club.

So because we had a small period of 3 months where we had some nice wins against Leicester and Sunderland away, we can forget about the rest which has been really, really poor. If you look at the fixtures last season, either side of the winter period, it's scary how bad it is.

We have spent £45m. You can dress it up as money that's been made but even if we started from a squad of 0, we still spent £45m. We've spent more than any side without parachute payments.

no because hes not one of the best owners in england ? why would you think he is , thats incredibly odd

Do you think he's doing a bad job? What would you tell Doug to do to improve things?

Genuine question. If an owner came in tomorrow, what would you tell him to do different?

I'm shocked tbh , do you see doug king as one of the best club owners in England ?

You clearly do as you wouldn't keep going on , what is it you think separates him from the rest ?

Not the best no. I'd put him in the top 20. After that, it all depends on what you're basing it on.

There's a lot of shite owners, or owners spending well above their means. Half of which gets brushed under the carpet.
