I dont want this to turn into another RoS v Grendel as we have enough of those. I appreciate you don't see eye to eye and on this subject my views differ from G's, but let's try and remain objective.

Born in 72, being a City fan in my lifetime, I had some great memories of my 'heroes' in the early 80's when I started going, leading up to the cup final in 87. A large turnover of managers and players followed and bar a couple of seasons as the 'Entertainers' under Strachan, it was a largely turgid affair as we slipped down the leagues. Despite being a lifelong passion, spending thousands travelling about, going a whole season away under Strachan without winning a game, crap owners, never challenging for anything, moving out of the ground etc etc it was tough mentally and financially to keep going. Since the return of MR and the Checkatrade Final, some of the best times, especially as they've been family occasions too, have been great under MR and I'll always look back on the era with fondness.

I'm not that bothered that he's gone, I accept it. I dont particularly want FL but again accept him and will give 100% support. But, to tarnish what we have enjoyed and I'd hope most on this forum were there to share some or all of those days, feels more than a bit mucky, and disingenuous.

So because we had a small period of 3 months where we had some nice wins against Leicester and Sunderland away, we can forget about the rest which has been really, really poor. If you look at the fixtures last season, either side of the winter period, it's scary how bad it is.

We have spent £45m. You can dress it up as money that's been made but even if we started from a squad of 0, we still spent £45m. We've spent more than any side without parachute payments.

How the f~ can anyone argue last season was poor? Sure it petered out at the end when we ran out of fit players but it was undoubtedly one of the top two in a generation and I'd probably argue top.

Wolves away and United are 2 of my fav memories as a City fan, as was beating Leicester at home …… the rest of the season was very forgettable.

We were 20th a year ago today on the 19th November. It was a woeful start. I still have nightmares about that Rotherham away game.

It was a great fun once O'Hare started games in December. There were some individually brilliant days. We beat rivals and had a trip to Wembley.

Well in theory we had a very good half season and an amazing fa cup run , we lost just 5 games in 25 between early November and early April

Overall massively enjoyable , the end most of us didn't care after hull

Either way we are not routinely one of the top attendance teams in the division nor do we benefit from parachute payments and has been seen this summer we can't compete with other clubs in the division on wages even when bidding for one of our own players.

Yes, on the back of two thrilling seasons and high expectations. Reality is though that we are not one of the big hitters in terms of revenue over the last 5/10 years and are likely comfortably outmatched even now by teams that have enjoyed spells in the prem. All of which remains entirely irrelevant to the main point I was making.

My take on last season:
3 months fantastic. A lot of the rest mixed. Poor start with a big staff turnover. Improved, cup run delivered that the owner requested and ran out of steam.

Net spend generated by that awful manager of ours was zero.

We’ve been in the top 10 for attendances of whatever division we’ve been in for the last 12 years (aside from playing outside the city)
