Nobody is saying it’s for no reason. It just comes across a bit ill thought out if it hadn’t been discussed/trained previously. The overall criticism about Robins and subs/tactics is not having a plan B and this still looks that way.

Yes, sometimes you need to play a player out of position but in the wider context it does feel a bit desperate.
FP is right to point out it’s based on someone else’s emphasis though and as I said it’s just speculation but everyone is now entrenching in their previous positions.

Leaving aside the arguments, it seems to me that LB/LWB is by far the most important position to strengthen in the squad. People constantly talk about CM/CB/RB, but I reckon if we’d had a quick tough marauding left back to balance MVE on the other side we’d have looked twice the team this season and been well in contention.

We shouldn’t have been in the position of having to try Jack in that role, although in those particular circumstances it worked perfectly.

In fairness mate i've seen this played at decent level stuff creeping in a bit to back up opinions and its nonsense. I know a couple of lads that have played a better level than certainly any regular contributors on this forum and trying to have a decent conversation about football with them is like pulling teeth and inevitably ends up back at generic Premier League chat.
Gabby Agbonlahor played Premier League and he talks like he's had all but about 5% of his brain removed.

Possibly been missed but I said above what I found odd was that he said he’d been thinking about it for a while. If it hadn’t been worked on in training then that seems a bit odd. No problem in principle with playing someone out of natural position.

Guys, Jack at Left back was one of Robins best decisions this season.

Football nowadays is more about profile than position which is exactly why it worked as he fit the brief for what Robins needed and it worked brilliantly. Playing to Jacks Strengths.

There have been bad decisions this year, the sixity min subs, the lack of us looking to change shape to counter teams or even a plan B for attack when stretching around the wings didn’t work.

I’m not sure anyone has said it didn’t work. What sparked the conversation was the player saying it hadn’t been mentioned or worked on in training, which is odd as Robins later claimed he’d been thinking about it for a while. Maybe he had, and hadn’t got as far as preparing Rudoni for it, but does lend fuel to the idea MR has been somewhat haphazard tactically this season.

At the meeting in Warwick with Sheaf and Jamie Allen, the funniest part for me was when Allen's answer to 'who is your most difficult opponent?', after a bit of thinking was 'I don't really know their names, or who I'm playing against' or words to that effect . Twas slightly bizarre. He did though refer to facing Man City with De Bruyne, Silva and (forget) in midfield, and said he couldn't get anywhere near them - they lost 9-0! Sheaf came across well, I thought.

I can understand your point under different circumstances. I'd argue that the Luton game involved no defending in that second half and he was effectively used as a left winger, a position he had played before. Based on that game, he could easily have been used in the LWB position in training going into the Boro and Derby games
