Yes!! I don't even bother getting him a ticket some of the time....just carry him in....we're 3 rows from the top of block 14 and there's 8 of us 2 rows of 4. He stands on the seat in between us and leans on the railings with his ear defenders on....he loves it but after 70mins it's a challenge atm keeping his focus on the game...he loves the singing and the drum!!

I suspect he'll be asleep by the time we get home!

Same for me mate. Would head to Kenilworth first to see my mum then off into Cov. Its a long day even for me.

No, you'll be fine. I manage to drive the 5/6 hours each way ok and my 19 year old son manages to sleep for most of it. I just wish he'd take his driving test so he could help with the driving.

I drove for 8 hrs yesterday doing some filming for work so got through a few podcasts. Not all once mind but still a long day. I'm sure if he falls asleep on the way back I'll stick some tunes on.

So along with my stepdad, I'm taking my son to his first ever match, to the Cardiff game. He's just turned 6 so I hope his attention span holds out!

Question re:tickets - does he need a JSB membership so we can sit it the family zone? Is there a family zone? I've sat all over the ground previously and never had to worry about kids tickets so not sure on the best place to take him in the ground.

Obvs not singers corner but advice appreciated on best part of the ground for a 6yr old for his first game.

Here's my unsolicited advice:

Bag of sweets in the pocket and say they can have one every time the Ref blows his whistle. Doesn't have to be that just choose something specific they have to watch out for. Cov throw ins or something. That way they have to pay attention.

Take a pop bottle cap in your pocket for when they take your one away at the food kiosk. Avoids having to hang onto an open bottle for 90 mins

Started taking my lad around 5-6, took a while for him to get used to it all and pay attention but He's 12 now and he's really grown to love it, gets fully involved.

Good on you mate. He'll remember this forever, irrespective of whether we win or lose, and he'll remind you of it in years to come. It's a win win situation all round. Brilliant.

As others have said I’d head to the Family Zone before the game. Pat and her team are diamonds. Also worth heading to the FZ to sit too regardless of where your tickets are. It’s never full so you should be ok. Worst case you might have to move a few mins in.

I remember taking my daughter to her first game at the Ricoh it was a draw against wolves 07/08 season

She seen sky blue sam, had chips at half time and seen a crash outside the ground on the way home

She didn't enjoy the game but liked the road rage and chips
