So we have either recruited River Phoenix or Billy Ocean.
Great. One's dead and the other hasn't had a hit for decades

Probably Einstein. Seems he'd never heard of tidal rivers or the water cycle.Who is he actually quoting?
I do get what you are saying, and I strongly agree Robins should be acknowledged by ALL as one of our greatest mangers ever.
But I struggle with the running on empty excuses we continually hear with regard to the end of last season. These are professional sportsmen and they should be capable of playing this amount of matches. It really is not that exceptional. What seemed clear to me is they collectively didn’t have the mental strength to see out the season. Whether some had decided we couldn’t get into playoffs and were planning their beach breaks or whether some just did not have a winning mentality Or whether stuff going on in the dressing room had an impact, I don’t know, but I do know we should have finished stronger and had more fight.
Alright, mate, let’s put it like this – that poem, “The River Can’t Go Back,” yeah? It’s bang on about what’s goin’ down at Cov right now. Think of the river as the club, right? It’s been flowin’ along steady, but now it’s got to dive headfirst into somethin’ bigger – new gaffer, fresh start, the lot.
So yeah, this whole river-ocean thing? It’s like Cov – leavin’ the safe old waters and divin’ into somethin’ bigger. Scary? A bit. Excitin’? Oi, 100%. Let’s hope the new fella’s got what it takes to smash it.
- Change’s comin’, no stoppin’ it: The river can’t turn back, just like Cov can’t stick with the old ways. Mark Robins, bless ‘im, did a solid job, but his time’s up. Got the boot, didn’t he? Eight years, longest-servin’ manager in the league, and now it’s all up for grabs. (reuters.com)
- Bit nervy, innit? The river’s all, “What happens when I hit the ocean?” Same for us fans – who’s takin’ over? Will it be a masterstroke or a proper cock-up? Gotta back the board on this one and hope they get it right.
- Bright side, though: New manager, new ideas – it’s like givin’ the team a rocket up their backside. Could be Frank Lampard comin’ in, maybe even Ruud van Nistelrooy. Big names, big potential. Fresh blood to shake things up. (talksport.com)
i Used to watch 321 as A kid, he’s quoting the late ted rogers. “ the opposite of back is front, take the first two letters of front and what do you get, that’s right FR, now he’s mentioned the ocean, what do you find a lot of in the ocean, a boat maybe ? now the opposite of flowing might be stopping, what stops a boat ? An anchor, take FR and the first 3 letters of anchor and what do you get . That’s right you’ve just hired Franc Lampard, pretty obvious when you think about it ,View attachment 39632Looks like it’s on
Lets fucking hope so !!Anyway, wonder how long this is going to drag on for , do you reckon frank wants 25k a week and doug won't budge at 18k and sheffield united will sign him up instead ?
sorry But not even ted rogers could get nistleroy out of that clue,i Used to watch 321 as A kid, he’s quoting the late ted rogers. “ the opposite of back is front, take the first two letters of front and what do you get, that’s right FR, now he’s mentioned the ocean, what do you find a lot of in the ocean, a boat maybe ? now the opposite of flowing might be stopping, what stops a boat ? Agree with this 100%.When Robins took over we were a mess. Fast forward nearly a decade and he has ultimately restored the clubs pride and dragged us up from our lowest ebb. During the Sisu years, he consistently extracted performances from players working under microscopic budgets, often assembling competitive squads through shrewd, low cost recruitment.
His ability to outpreform, turning limited resources into competitive teams that punched well above their weight helped to create the platform we now have. The fact he's done this multiple times at the club speaks volumes about his quality and loyalty to the club.
Regarding the end of season performances you mentioned, while professional athletes should maintain standards, the context of a long, grueling season with minimal squad rotation can't be ignored. Robins historically managed these challenges exceptionally well, which made the drop off even more puzzling and I now suspect some of that was due to AV and Marks relationship perhaps ad much as the FA cup.
The manner of his departure (to me at least) still feels deeply disrespectful to someone who has been so fundamental to our survival and rise up the leagues.
Doug's treatment of Robins appears to be part of a larger pattern of arrogant and inflexible behavior but unlike the children's ticket pricing issue, where he could quickly reverse course when faced with backlash, his attitude and leadership style may have more lasting consequences as this matter can't be easily fixed with a quick policy change. If Doug gets this next appointment wrong everything he claimed at the fans forum he was trying to prevent I.e. putting the investment at risk will quickly come back to bite him and we could see a crisis this club has not seen for a while.
I support whoever Doug appoints as I love the club but the last few weeks have made me question Dougs judgement as a strategic footballing leader and if we don't have an appointment by the weekend, it would seem the recruitment process is being as poorly conducted as Mark's sacking.
If you turn your phone upside down the clouds spell out Frank Lampard Sky Blue Army.View attachment 39632Looks like it’s on
The comment asking if he is on drugs is about right tbhView attachment 39632Looks like it’s on
I wouldn't worry as we'll end up with fekkin dusty bin anywaysorry But not even ted rogers could get nistleroy out of that clue,
Just out of idle curiosity, how much is the contract?Certainly wouldn't meet my X in the bushes outside Ryton. She has a contract out on me.
It is isn’t it. Must be Leam Richardson.View attachment 39632Looks like it’s on

As he waves goodbye to several more.Tidal Reference? Someone who is ‘current’ly with the club?
Could be a number of reasons but yes I am thinking that this is taking excessive time. I'm not taking the cynical route but I do believe that we should have had an appointment by now if it is indeed Lampard. Maybe King wants to put the whole new coaching team in place simultaneously and that'd what's causing the delay.Anyone else thinking it is taking a ridiculous amount of time to appoint an out of work manager/head coach. A cynic could think that King doesn't want FL to start against Sheff Utd & Burnley?! Or maybe it isn't going to be FL.
Well of course any new manager would want his preferred staff to join him. It isn't taking excessive time in reality. If his name hadn't been leaked in the media so early nobody would be complaining reallyCould be a number of reasons but yes I am thinking that this is taking excessive time. I think this is the most likely reason but at this point it’ll obviously be Lampard.Could be a number of reasons but yes I am thinking that this is taking excessive time. I tend to agree with this . A defeat against Sheffield Utd and Burnley would be an awkward start. The Robin's fans would pile on.Anyone else thinking it is taking a ridiculous amount of time to appoint an out of work manager/head coach. I think we will be waiting until the next 2 results are in, wouldn't want the new coach having his arse handed to him first 2 games in charge.I think they are waiting until us fans are less angry about it and have calmed down.
They will have a long wait I think.I think they are waiting until us fans are less angry about it and have calmed down.
Christ, Keane. My worst fucking nightmare appointment.Current
Lampard 1/8
Keane 7/1
