Bertie's Goal Celebration (4 Viewers)

Haven't caught up with any TV coverage yet but it struck me at the time that apart from maybe MVE, none of the team seem to celebrate with Bertie when he scored?

Any view from people at that end of the ground?

I think the majority of players thought that eccles had scored, the ball takes the tiniest knock off bassette so if their vision was blocked i could definitely see that they didnt think he’d got a touch.

Definitely. Behind the goal, I was convinced it was Eccles’ goal despite Bassette’s air shot and didn’t even notice Bassette celebrating. At half time I saw the footage on the concourse and it had to admit that it clearly struck Bassette’s shin pad on the way in.

Same here, when they announced it as Bassette’s goal I thought they'd messed up, was expecting to see it change on the scoreboard but when you get to see the replay you realise its not Eccles goal.

There's a massive rift in the camp, they don't like that he tells the senior players to press with him. Huge falling out, only Milan is talking to him.

I got that 4th hand. 🤣
Might have already been said but there are as plenty of conversations going on with him on the pitch. Sheaf spoke to him at least twice, probably getting him to focus, beware of another yellow card.
Both BTA and Kitching spoke to him on the pitch when he came out to start the second half and they were warming up.
Conversations were all amicable so I think your source might have it wrong.

Got to say, it’s not the kind of goal to endear you to your team mates, getting a millimetre of shin pad on a ball that’s going in anyway.

Great ball from Eccles but wouldn't have gone in without Bassette's deft touch.... definitely his goal.
Not sure without looking back but really don't think it matters, that goal was really all about the cross which was superb but it wasn't a shot, Eccles wanted someone to get on the end of it. I'm not sure what part of Bassette it came off, it was probably a bit flukey but... first goal for the club. He is up and running, that will do him the world of good.

Bassette did really well to get between the centre backs with great timing,he guided it in with his ankle/boot.

He did really well to get into position but he missed the ball. It hit his shin. Def his goal though.

It doesn't matter how they go in, a strikers job is to get them over the line. His movement was causing them problems all game. All season fans have moaned about lack of movement by our forwards. His movement for the goal was superb getting between their central defenders.

Wicked ball in by Eccles too!

It looks like he gives something different up front, some aggression, wants to get involved and make things happen! Can’t remember the last shithouse we had! Hopefully see 10-15 goals from him this season

And to think, some fans were complaining when we signed him. Why are we buying another striker when we need a CH RWB, CM etc etc.

Well he's first choice striker now!!! (For the time being at least)

I love his enthusiasm and his fight, and I like how he demands quality service from his team mates.

He may be a right shithouse, but he's OUR shithouse!
