No Rashford or Garnacho in match day squad. Amorim marking his territory early.
I've said for a few months now to my Manure supporting friends that they both play for themselves . I remember a stat from last season where they had about 10-12 attempts on goal yet Hojland hadn't had a touch in the opposition box .
Amorim looks like the proper manager they've needed since SAF retired

Itā€™s scary how out of their depth the teams that go up look even with rubbish like Everton up there and then the teams that come down in general are far to good.

It wouldn't surprise me if he stood down tonight. 8 defeats from 11 šŸ¤Æ
Mental to think this being flown about after 6 PL titles and one bad run. Looking back to ourselves, it can show how easily a solid foundation can be undone. But Man City have a few players in their team that over the hill with Walker and KDB being 2 such players.

Even if Pep survives this run, the aura of invincibility has gone with a resurgent Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal in the frame.

Itā€™s what made Fergie great being able to constantly reinvent the team and beat every ā€˜upstartā€™ he came against. This a big test for Pep.

Pep has been to slow in refreshing the team maybe he didnā€™t as he hadnā€™t decided his future.

Yep, agreed. He just looks like a broken man at the minute, like you said hes relying on 1-2 players who are over the hill. Then brought back 34 year old Gundagan back. He's got a fair few other players around the 30 mark too. He's not been great at succession planning and refreshing the squad

The worry will be that once that aura of invincibility has gone it won't come back, just like it did with Fergie in the end.

His stubbornness and insistence in playing the same aging players has cost them players like Cole Palmer.

Teams have figured him out more now and he doesn't have by far the best team so he is struggling. His only answer is to keep trying the same thing. His team is now so shot of confidence they were at one stage just hoofing the ball forward.

Unpopular opinion but I would have wanted Martin as our manager had he been sacked a month ago.

His record is pretty mediocre. Fair play he got Southampton up last season but given the strength of their squad, you'd have expected them to get to the play offs at least anyway. At MK Dons and Swansea he flattered to deceive, with a 37% win record.

I wouldnā€™t expect instant success with him (same as I feel about Lampard) and thereā€™s every chance it would go badly wrong (ditto) but if your brief is to find a ā€œHead Coachā€ who will instil a clear football philosophy in the team, then Martin fits that better than any of the rumoured names we had. The fallout on here would have been spectacular of course.

This is why he was sacked from Southampton

refused to shift from his ā€œclear football philosophyā€ to a more pragmatic style, to be a more attractive appointment for future employers.
Iā€™d rather a manager that puts the team above himself and wants to win

Fergieā€™s teams also went through some pretty barren spells in the early 2000s and again when Mourinho arrived. His skill was in constantly reinventing the team, does Guardiola have it?

Yeah and tbf Iā€™ve said that really we need someone whoā€™s pragmatic at the moment. Hopefully thatā€™s Lampard.

Obviously Martinā€™s commitment to the bit is a disaster when your players are generally inferior in terms of technical ability to the rest of the division - I would hope that wouldnā€™t be the case for us in the Championship.

All due respect to Southampton, they donā€™t really have the squad capable of staying up playing with their ā€˜clear football philosophyā€™. Same with Burnley under Kompany and Maresca had he stayed at Leicester (academic ofc). That rebuild could define Pepā€™s legacy in that GOAT conversation which is why I think heā€™ll past 2026.

That said, Martin was a manager Iā€™d have been interested in had he been available when Robins had been sacked. If Lampard were to get us promoted I believe he would be pragmatic in the Prem to at least give us a better chance of staying up.

Fergieā€™s teams also went through some pretty barren spells in the early 2000s and again when Mourinho arrived. His skill was in constantly reinventing the team, does Guardiola have it?

Exactly, thatā€™s why Fergie is my GOAT in the Prem. Personally, I do just think Pep and Man City have mistimed their rebuild because they always planned for 2025 - that just looks to one season too late.

Selling Palmer was a huge blunder but then again, FFP incentivises teams to sell academy players as it represents 100% profit.

Anyone know what the odds are of Robins going to Wolves or Saints? Or does not getting the Hull job mean he is not that highly regarded? Have Millwall appointed yet?
Iā€™d be surprised if Robins was interested in the Hull job and genuinely think heā€™d be exposed at both Saints and Wolves to be honest.

Nah absolutely not for me. He's way too one dimensional and would insist on a style that wouldn't suit this team in the slightest.

Latibeaudiere and Thomas trying to 1-2 their way out of our own box would be a comedy show.

And to add an unpopular opinion of my own, I genuinely find his style of football brain numbingly boring. Having lots of the ball and making loads of passes is great to watch at a high tempo but Martin ball is so slow it's painful in my opinion.
