Would he have been aware of the details of the Fraser bid?
We all knew Frasers had bid didn't we? Even at the time wasn't it seen as an incredibly long shot that the sale process would be halted to allow King time to get a bid together.

If his plan was to get hold of the arena then I'm not sure the way he's gone about it does much to indicate his competence.

So, reading between the lines we have an owner who bought a team because he thought he’d get a stadium and a stadium owner who bought a stadium because he wanted a team? I must admit I think King has dodged a bullet. Tenancy is actually a decent business model.

I said this at the time and got shouted down. In his first interview he said something about not having their ducks in a row to buy the ground.
