Last season

First 15 games we had 15 points

Next 16 games we had 30 points

Next 15 games we had 19 points

And? 🤷

We aren't even half way into the season yet and many are already saying that MVE looks tired, as an example.

Just because the squad was bigger last year, means nothing. It was clear as day that the squad was jaded and tired. And we did have the cup run too.

If we don't bring in some players in Jan, I can well see this squad suffering the same fate.

Already seems pretty clear that Eccles and Torp struggle to play 90 mins a lot of the time.
The squad from last season that everyone is hyping up finished nowhere near the playoffs, and this season’s squad is smaller, less experienced and has fewer proven difference-makers.

The idea of this season being a success was predicated on the idea that we didn’t need to strengthen the squad and that the core group signed last season would all individually kick on and go to the next level. It didn’t happen, and that’s partly because the players in question simply aren’t as good as they were hyped up to be.

Which is far better than where we are now.
But the majority of this squad also produced top 6 form for over a 3rd of a season.
You'd think a top 6 deck with elite level coaches should be able to replicate that and keep it going over a more sustained period so it will be disappointing if that doesn't happen.

The other main reason aside from o hare was the standard of opposition was poorer in that period

We beat Leicester, Leeds and an EPL team so I'm not sure they were all poorer.
And plenty on here are saying this years Chsmpionship is very poor though I'm not sure how accurately you can quantify these things.

Over the season our record was abysmal - I believe 5 wins against top half all season.

We beat the worse teams consistently.

So the general weight of fixtures then were against teams in the lower half

Robins played his part in us ending up in this position, it's why he ended up losing his job.

He has.
But it's undeniable, though people try, that he had this squad, or very near to this squad playing well for over 3 months.
If we've now brought in an 'elite level' coach, we should start to see that replicated very soon.

People can't keep giving passes to all and sundry and blaming Robins forever.

Saturday was as bad as I can remember.

Exactly.

the squad we have should be enough to put in a performance better than what we saw at Portsmouth.

The fact is our “elite tactician” started Collins and JDS and that was our downfall

You keep saying the 3 months but when people include the downturn in results last season towards the end you say it doesn’t count

Well I don't think it should, but then you also have people saying don't include the cup!

But if we do include the poor run of results towards the end of last season and the 14 games Robins had this season then what are we talking, 21, 22 games?

If that's the standard then Lampard is already on thin ice and needs to start turning things round.

That's not my take, I want him to be given time but if that's the standard the Robins out brigade are holding managers to then he needs to improve things fast or they'll be after his head, unless they just had some weird agenda against a very succesful manager.

It’s obvious lampard will not be fired by then and be given more time and you kkow

Robins built his success on a tight group of players that have now gone. His favoured back room where he got the success have gone.

We have players signed on long contracts who are depreciating badly

Any other club would have dispensed with him for the downturn and the other factors.

This is one of my bigger concerns. Made some high profile / relatively expensive signings and at the moment for the majority of them, we look far off even recouping the money we paid.

I never said Lampard wouldn't be given time.
I said if the Robins out brigade are being consistent they'll be calling for his head if things don't improve soon.

And as for the players, top 6 deck apparently

It’s not the same and the only ones who will call for his head are those who won’t let go of Robins through pure sentiment

It’s a squad that Robins has built rather than Lampard. I did say at the time though that the lack of experience in the side would hinder us, which by the sounds of it comes down the King.

It is the same, based on everything that's been said, those people should judge him by the same standards.

King has already made Lampards life difficult with his bluster, top 6 deck, premier league fit, have to be on 26 points by Christmas, man's an arse.

It’s best to ignore this nonsense. The sooner a DoF is brought in the better.

Again, it's the hypocrisy that some are applying, I totally agree about ignoring him, I get that he probably felt he had to big up the playing squad but its ignore something said to the local media when it suits, but take other stuff as gospel when it suits

The other thing regarding this “something went wrong” after we had a great run of results as if there is a mystery was partly down to Sakamoto and his injury

He O Hare and MVE dominated possession and created movement. Once he went injured the form died.

Simms had his only run of scoring form as well. I think he’s only scored in 11 league games in around 60 appearances- no evidence that’s ever coming back

I think Kitching played in a fair few of those games as well

Well I'd agree with all of that, though I still think we could get a tune out ofSimns
There's clearly a bigger issue at play regarding Kitching.

And yet sakamoto is playing now with MVE and the form is shite ?

It's amazing to see some of the revisionism around Robins.

7 years of success and apparently it was all in spite of Robins and just down to various instances of luck and good fortune.
They talk shit , every manager has an assistant , every manager has coaches .

Robins is no different and last season we had a poor start even when adi and Lawrence were here , again proving our fans talk waffle

You could argue with them all day
