Has he? We’ve had one half decent game. He’s also shown the ability to get the worst basing it on yesterday.

Robins PPG 1.07
Lampard PPG 1.40

Don't think that's quite the smoking gun you think it is mate

On what basis then are you saying Lampard hasn’t got more out of these players than Robins?

The same frailties at the back, abject individual performances, no leadership.
0.33 of a point better doesn't sell your point to me but as I said, I'm giving him longer than 5 or 6 games but it's too early to be making prounoucments about his performance either way.

This season has been much of a muchness no matter who has been in charge.
Very early days for Lampard and he needs time, and hopefully he'll get it and put things right but in his short tenure so far there's absolutely nothing to suggest any improvement.
And look at who we have played

Cardiff at home (bottom 3) Drew
Millwall away who had a 3-4 of their best players out (Essex, Hutchinson, Tanganga, Coburn) - Won
West Brom (play off contenders) - Lost
Hull (bottom 3) - Won
Portsmouth (bottom 3) - lost

The original point I replied to was that Lampard wasn’t getting the best out of this team.

There is nothing to suggest he is doing worse than Robins in that regard. That is the point I’m making.

Perhaps it’s just that we’ve signed a big pile of shite for £43m?

If I had to vote for our most impressive performance this season Id probably go for Sunderland away under Carr!

And every time I hear a remark about the signings I have to reply the same thing, Robins had them in promotion form for over 3 months so if Lampard is a better manager he'll improve on that.

Not this squad he didn’t

OK, so if we're judging purely on this season are we only giving Lampard 14 games as well?

I’m not sure how to answer that.

I thought Robins was got rid of too quickly.

I suppose my argument back would be that these are Robins’ players

If you insist onlooking at players performances then one example is Sakamoto. What has happened to his exciting brand and style? I think I saw him take a man on once yesterday. Now that has to be coaching to blame. He is not a midfield player, far too lightweight. But, they have took his attacking ability away from him.
Defence is shocking. The table shows it. Goals for is not bad, but against the number tells a story. Goalkeeping has been poor and better when Wilson was in, though others do not want to believe that. Thomas is OK, and is a good attacking threat from corners. Binks just not showing enough. Bidwell sorely missed. Van Ewik not his full self but is OK.
Torp should be in the number 10 role not Rudoni. If Sheaf could shoot on target I'd perservere but his form has deserted him. And attacking options are not utilised properly Simms all day long for me. Bassette is still learning.
I'd try this and work on it all week:

...........................Dovin
Van Ewik.......Thomas.......Kitching........Bidwell
............................Eccles
...........Rudoni......................Torp
Asante..............................................EMC
.............................Simms

GK coach needs to go.

If you got one of us on here, gave us years of decent professional GK coaching, then I’d be confident that all of us could’ve saved that first one yesterday

We just have no spine - all of our signings are similar profile and we've failed to replace the spine of experience (Fadz, Kelly, Godden).

I don't think the squad is shit, just imbalanced due to King's strategy. I think people will be surprised how good some of the players will be if we're able to get some leadership in there.

Look at Sunderland - inconsistent mid-table fodder last season now pushing autos after adding players like Mepham/Browne.

Well I think Robins was unfortunate but if we go back to last season he was getting a tune out of them for a good chunk of it.
If the criteria is we're basing it purely on this season then Lampard hasn't got long.

Just for the record, that's not my take on things. I really don't want us to go back to burning through managers and want Frank to be given time.

Let’s wait until we’ve had comparable length at least. Of his five games three have been against the bottom four.

I agree.

The only point I'm making is that there is no evidence that he is doing worse with these players than Robins was

For me second half yesterday was the worst performance for years.

Leeds away earlier in the season was horrific .

We don't judge managers on individual games.

bigfatronssba

Leeds was against essentially a PL team, this was against a relegation side and we’d shown we could outclass them. It’s was pure gutlessness.
The quality of the opposition is irrelevant when it comes to guts. You can play the best team in the world, get hammered, and still show guts.

We were gutless against Leeds

We were gutless against Portsmouth

Yep.

Absolutely nothing positive in that second half at all and ratings of zero for many players on here, were not actually that far off the mark

It was truly abject

4 against Pompey
1 against hull
2 against WBA
2 against Cardiff
2 against Sheffield United
2 against Sunderland
2 against Luton
2 against Burnley
2 against Derby
2 against Shef Wed
3 against Leeds
2 against Swansea
2 against Oxford

We need a new left back and 2 center backs that are at this level.

It's that simple.

It’s not the same - stop this nonsense

Of course it is. People are holding a fella who just walked in the door to a different standard than a fella who was here nearly 8 years and rebuilt the club, that's nonsensical.

It isn’t. We lost o hare in the form of his life.

Also it’s the same team then that Robins then managed 34 points from the next 31 games. Other than splurging millions on more players. What happened?

Again, people include last season when it suits and ignore it when it suits.

King said this is a top 6 deck that's EPL fit so the players are good enough aren't they?

Why? Because King said so?

Is this why you keep referring to last season only in terms of the 3-month period when we actually looked any good, rather than the season as a whole?

I'm happy to debate it either way, include or exclude last season.
But if you include the end of last season then Robins bad run started after we best Leeds, so 6 games.
Add that on to the 14 we got this season that's 20 games, are the people who were calling for Robins going to start calling for Lampard after 20 games if it carries on in this vein?

I know I won't, but I'm just hilighting the hypocrisy

The fact remains from last summer's overhaul to now the squad has only sustained one period of decent form in the space of 1.5 seasons. Whatever Lampard said, there is no leadership at all out there to help when the tide is turning or to guide the more inexperienced players through.

We have assembled a group of technically talented players who shit the bed at the drop of a hat. What Chris Wilder said was so true-he can count on an acceptable minimum from his players every week, the Coventry manager whoever it is cannot.

So how do we know that's down to Robins?
Oh yeah, he said something in the local media so it must be true. The same media King made his comments in that we should just ignore!!

I think the truth is a bit more nuanced than on Robin, not on Robins but people seem to want to blame every bit of adversity on a man who rebuilt the club. It's weird.

I've changed my mind on a few things through this saga and apportioned blame on Robins for stuff I previously exonerated him for but it will take a lot to convince me that stripping the squad if experience is on him.
